he afternoon of a Monday. A popular idol was casually walking down the streets of Shibuya in Tokyo. He is Tegoshi Yuya (20 years old) of 6-man group NewS.
The street on which Tegoshi was walking is an area in Dougenzaka that is very lively at night. With his silky hair, big sunglasses, black down jacket with fur, black cardigan around his waist, faded jeans and boots, he looked less like a popular idol and more like the university student he currently is.
Walking 3-4 metres behind him was a slightly glamourous-looking girl with brown hair, about the same age as him. They went into a nearby convenience store where they talked to another young man while standing. After that, the girl walked back the way she came, while Tegoshi and the other man (who appeared to be his friend) headed towards the train station.
After parting with the girl, Tegoshi and his companion walked onto a crowded street, and young girls they passed all looked at Tegoshi with an expression that said: "Eh, is that Tego? Serious?" Tegoshi and his companion had lunch in a ramen shop and then dropped by Starbucks. After sitting down, Tegoshi changed his sunglasses to black-rimmed spectacles. It seems that he thought wearing sunglasses would have attracted attention instead.
When an idol heads out into the streets, he needs to be careful about a lot of things. As a result, he was not noticed and drank coffee in a relaxed manner in Starbucks. After about 30 min, he headed back out onto the streets of Shibuya.
Why was Tegoshi strolling in Shibuya in the middle of the day? Actually, he was heading home after a night of drinking in Shibuya.
Tegoshi and his friend entered a club close to Dougenzaka at about 1 am. According to a regular customer of the club who witnessed everything:
"The moment he entered the club, there was a commotion among the girls in the club, but any girl who tried to approach him was stopped by security staff.
After entering a VIP room with his friend, a staff member who seemed familiar with Tegoshi dropped by the VIP room many times to play soccer video games with him etc. While he was there he seemed to get along well with 2 girls. At about 4 am the DJ announced that "Today there's a special guest with us today! Tegoshi Yuya from NewS!", and started playing NewS' big hit Weeeek. Tegoshi came down from the VIP room on the 2nd floor and sang Weeeek while standing beside the DJ. When that happened people crowded around, waved their hands in the air, and girls clambered on stage. It was a very lively scene."
The person who created the lively scene, Tegoshi, ended his song by saying, "Weeeek yoroshiku! Yeah!", cast a backwards glance at the girls dancing on the stage, and returned to the VIP room. After that, "together with the guy who appeared to be his friend and the 2 girls, he talked to the DJ and drank shots of tequila or some other drink. He drank all the way till morning."
So after drinking the whole night and singing live at the club, Tegoshi, who did not look tired at all, went out into the streets of Shibuya in the middle of the day.
In Nov 06, Tegoshi formed a vocal unit with fellow NewS member Masuda Takahisa (21) called Tegomass, released a single Miso Soup in Europe, and acted in his first leading role in Fuji TV's Shabake in Nov last year. Even though he's so busy, he's very energetic even on his rare off-days! With such toughness, it seems that we can expect more from him in the future.

I was recently lucky enough to be granted an interview with THE Tegoshi Yuya, the famous member god of the popular group, NEWS. We've seen Tegoshi do his Terminator impersonation and his "Sky Moon Walk". But, what we all don't know is that he's a budding artist who's following the steps of Ohno Satoshi.
I found Tegoshi Yuya, the famous member GOD of the popular group, NEWS hard at work one day and decided to interview him.
ME: Tegoshi-kun, ohayou! Eh..what exactly was your inspiration for this first work of art?
TEGOSHI: Ohayou Kaishi~chan (eheh he calls me kaishichan!!melts....) Well, that's actually a self-portrait.
ME: ehhh???
TEGOSHI: Hai! hai! Haven't you watched Shabake?!
ME: Oh, I get it! (I don't XD)...... (fake laughter, still trying to make sense of the drawing)....sugoi sugoi...It's even signed...haha
ME: Teshi's this second erm..artwork of yours, it's really very interesting. Can you tell us more about it...what ermm.. exactly is it?? I am not really an art student gomen..(embarrassed laugh)
TEGOSHI: Oh this one? This is one of my unfinished ones. It's part of my dog, Teeny. Kawaii, right?
ME: Eheh...kawaii... (thinks: what the...? it looks part leopard, part turtle, part dog and with a microphone for a tail)
TEGOSHI: Oh, you know what else am I passionate about aside from art and NEWS?
ME: (afraid to know the answer) Oh there's more? Eheh..what is it?
Teshi gets his sketchpad, draws rapidly for a few seconds then..
TEGOSHI: Soccer ofcourse!!! This is a gameplan for team Italy.
ME: Sugoi...I didn't know you liked Italy.
TEGOSHI: Oh, my okaa-san said I was actually really 1/4 Italian. I looked in my mirror and told myself, how could I be so baka, well isn't it obvious? Je 'taime..
ME: ...eheh...hehehe...that's French...(still melts)
TEGOSHI: Oh? (laughs) I'm still learning, lo siento.
ME: Ha ha. It's okay (thinks: that's Spanish. But I'll forgive you coz you're so kawaii)
