  • 5 out of 5, 10 out of 10, best anime ever, would watch again
One of the best shows I've seen in a while, every episode was great.
The characters are likeable and the universe is well established. The art style, animation, and colors were just perfect.
Probably one of the best shows I'll ever see due to how good the last episode was too, the ending really tied up every loose end put a nice bow on it for you.
This show isn't FLCL and it isn't Cowboy Bebop, ...

  • How to make an optimistic message artful
Gurren Lagann might seem like a mindless show at first, but it is actually one of the most "artsy" anime I've seen. It employs a lot of symbolizm and not only has the best character arc I know of, but it's completion isn't at the end of the series, but in the middle. We actually see the main character's coming of age story as well as him as an adult, dealing with the problems he now is capable of ...

    Most. Overrated. Mecha Anime. Ever.
I like mecha anime so I had high expectations for this anime. I stayed up all night watching all of the episodes (except the Compilation Episode because it is just a pointless clip show) and it is safe to say Gurren Lagann is not as good as most people make it out to be. I get that people like this anime because of the great fight sequences and I can agree with that but the rest of the anime felt ...

  • First mecha anime I've seen - a pleasant surprise!
I had a friend show this to me and I was hooked from the first episode, so I kept on watching it on my own. I have never watched any mecha anime and I'm not a super huge fan of anything about machines/robots but this was a pleasant surprise! Characters are great, fighting scenes are awesome, and the story moves at a good pace. I recommend this to anyone who likes the action genre : )

  • DahliaMurder's Review of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
If I had to sum up Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann into one word, it would be ignorance. This is the message that the show preaches consistently, urging the viewer that they should abandon all thought and reason and fight for what they feel is right. This is the epitome of ignorance, blindly fighting for something that you don't completely understand and being content with knowing nothing. Multiple ...

  • A Russian nesting doll of epicness
This anime knows what it can do, and sticks to its formula extremely well. We're probably all familiar with mecha fighting anime, and this has all the tropes you can expect: power of friendship, monologues about looking towards the future and taking hold of it, etc. Gurren Lagann takes all these things and doubles down on them, and paces itself almost perfectly.

    The ascendancy of struggles ...

  • JUST WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK WE ARE?
Aside from fanservice, robots, and hearing about this back in '08, those Beedrill fanarts and the shirts I got at the Metrocon in Tampa made me think of Gurren Laggan. It's also available on Netflix. I didn't want to watch it without my brothers, so I watched it here to get it out of my system.
