    An Anime Masterpiece
I own this show on DVD, and am happy to see it available for Crunchyroll viewers to enjoy. I typically watch it in English (also excellent, by the way), but am currently enjoying it on Crunchroll in the original Japanese for something new.

Haibane Renmei is in my list of top ten anime of all time. It's a short, sweet (sometimes bittersweet) story that feels allegorical in nature, but does so ...

  • A Truly Beautiful Classic
I can count on one hand the number of anime that I would give a perfect review score to, Haibane Renmei is one of them. Everything that you need to know about the plot is in the description and I don't want to spoil anymore.

From the gorgeously rich backgrounds to the subtle yet moving soundtrack Haibane Renmei pulls you into its world and characters. The show is a journey of the soul that at ...

  • A classic title that is worth your time.
Haibane Renmei is an incredible show that everyone should try. It's slow, sad, and at times a little dark; but it is also incredibly beautiful. People often seem to recommend classic anime on the basis of nostalgia. Having just watched it for the first time in 2017, I can say nostalgia isn't a factor at all in my recommendation. It really is as good as people say, and I can only think of one ...

  • All-time Classic Masterpiece
I've owned and loved this series on DVD since 2003. It might be my nostalgia talking, but this is my all-time favorite anime. You have to be okay with a character driven narrative. It takes its time with the world building, but the payoff for the main characters is there.

  • Quite possibly the BEST Slice-of-Life Anime ever made, and an absolute CLASSIC.
When it comes to Slice of Life, there's two titles that immediately stand out: one is Aria, and the other is Haibane Renmei. This is the most light-hearted in the infamous ABE Trilogy(Texhnolyze and Serial Experiements Lain are the other two), and it's a gem of a series. It starts out light-hearted, and quickly picks up speed half-way through resulting in a satisfying ending to a fantastic ...

    Aboslutely beautiful
Haibane Renmei is worth the watch. It is beautifully drawn, the music is haunting, the story is profound and yet light-hearted.
It is a show to make you ponder what is would be that is holding you back and needs to be healed in your life.
Take the time to watch this.

Yasuyuki Ueda Makes a SoL and Fails Me. More at 11
    Story: 3/10
Nothing really takes place. I know there's a lot of symbolism and world construction throughout the first few episodes, but these cannot be the primary fuel for the journey. The first few episodes are spent with Rakka trying to find a job, which is supposed to be like a light, existential journey of searching where one belongs, but it's not very strong and clouded by this awkward ...

  • Absolutely outstanding.
Honestly, I'm both open and a bit picky when it comes to watching Anime. I have to be in the right mood, and it has to have certain elements to keep me interested.
This one is absolute gold. The story is fantastic, the animation is gorgeous. Love it!

  • Haunting in a Beautiful Way
This show will leave you with far more questions than answers, but the journey will have been worth it. Having seen this show a few times now, I'm only now starting to comprehend its true depth. There's seriously a lot of metaphor and symbolism to unpack here, and it's difficult to catch it all, even after multiple viewings.

Just don't expect a traditional narrative arc. What you get instead is ...
