A brief memoir of a Filipino Hayate fan
I firstly saw the Hayate franchise traced back shortly after the surprise passing of former president Cory Aquino and before the Typhoon Ondoy/Ketsana tragedy that hit the Philippines (my home country) in 2009 (then I was a graduated high school student) thanks to a locally-made anime magazine.

From then on, I firstly listen to the music (from the Ops and Eds and later, character and insert ...

    Hayate no Gotoku Review
This is a beautiful show, I've watched both seasons twice already and I'm updated with the manga, which I'm also planning on buying the manga volumes.
This show contains the perfect sense of humor, clever use of parody from many different sources, either from western shows such as Star Wars or other Japanese anime or dramas such as DBZ, Nagi even has a statue of various anime characters ...

  • A little disjointed, but good
This story is not exactly your typical harem anime, but then again, it is. The Japanese name 'Hayate no gotoku', literally means 'Like a gale', a play on the main character's need to outrun some debt collectors in the first few episodes (the pun is explained later, in season 2). With a subtitle like 'Hayate the Combat Butler!", one would expect more combat than physical exertion, but there's ...

  • It's a freaking hoot!
Never letting his ever-unlucky life get the better of him, 16 year old Hayate is cursed with a debt of 156,000,000 yen by his irresponsible, happy-go-lucky parents. After being saved from death and his debt by, Nagi, the 13 year old heir to the prestigious Sanzenin family, he decides to work as her butler to pay back her kindness and the debt she cleared for him. Hayate soon finds that being a ...

  • May seem cliché at first but will end up feeling fresh
At first glance Hayate the combat butler looked a bit too shoujo for me and the characters seemed a bit generic, so I didn’t give it much attention. Now that I’ve tried it though, I’m surprised at how funny and original it actually is.

What I like is how the story twists surprise me most of the time. Almost every time it seems like Hayate the Combat Butler goes straight for the ...

  • Overly addicting anime!!
This anime is nothing more than addicting; with its cute charters and hilarious plot story that includes every character to fall to hijinks. The protagonist Hayate gets abandon by his parents and is left with their debt of 150 million yen; but

    Couldn't Stop Laughing
This was downright hilarious. Through and through it was written to not be taken seriously. It even goes as far as to laugh at itself multiple times, and the fourth wall gets broken so often it may as well not even exist. Even though the main character has a ridiculously depressing and sad backstory the way it's worded and depicted makes you actually laugh. I'm happy I broke down and watched this ...
