Shuichi Nitori is a boy who wants to be a girl and Yoshino Takatsuki is a girl who wants to be a boy. They meet in grammar school and learn one another's secrets. They become able to confide in each other as they grow up.

Hate, Hate, Despise

Yoshino and Saori have started their new lives in middle school. Things continue to be awkward as they go through their day to day. They join the various teams at the start of the semester; Yoshino to basketball and Saori to volleyball.

Romeo and Juliet

Preparations for the cultural festival have begun as class 1-3 votes to do a "genderbent play" where the boys play girls and the girls play boys. After some encouragement from Yoshino, Shuichi begins writing a script, but Saori also wrote a script of her own, so Mr. Saisho, their teacher, tells them to work on the script together. Meanwhile, Yoshino was told by the basketball coach to wear a bra, which left her feeling confused about how her body was changing.

Shuichi and Saori continue to work on the script for the genderbent play that will be performed during the cultural festival. However, they aren't making much progress due to conflicting opinions. In the mean time, Yoshino invites Shuichi on a cross-dressing date after receiving advice from Yuki-san about buying underwear. Shuichi, who is finally aware of his own feelings thanks to Saori, decides to tell Yoshino how he feels, but...

The End of Summer

Summer vacation has begun. Shuichi and the others meet up at Saori's house to work on the script for the genderbent play. That's when Fumiya happens to drop by Saori's home and say something which results in Chizuru and Momo finding about Shuichi's cross-dressing habit. A very interested Chizuru presses Chizuru, which leads Yoshino to snap and leave. Shuichi is glad that Yoshino was angry on his behalf, and he has a feeling that he will finally be able to set aside his feelings for Yoshino...

Cultural Festival

It's finally the day of the cultural festival. Shuichi and his classmates are busy preparing for the play. Unlike Saori, who looks great in her Romeo costume, Makoto is uneasy about how he looks in his Juliet costume. As the clock ticks down to the performance, there's all sorts of excitement around the cultural festival as everyone ends up in the haunted house to calm their nerves, there's a huge fuss as people find out that the popular model, Maiko-chan, is here, and even Yuki-san and Shi-chan show up. And finally, the curtain rises on class 1-3's genderbent play, Romeo and Juliet――

Rosy Cheeks

One morning, Shuichi wakes up to discover a pimple on the tip of his nose. After Maho tells him that there are many more to come, Shuichi tries desperately to get rid of the pimple, but more pop up... After asking Anna for advice, he ends up talking with her about a number of other topics. As Anna helps Shuichi, his negative impression of her blossoms into something different. Meanwhile, Shuichi and Saori have been recruited by the drama club because of their script for the cultural festival genderbent play.

Spring

The seasons turn as spring comes again. Shuichi and his friends are now second-years, and Saori returns from an extensive absence. Everybody rejoices, but as new class assignments for the new term are revealed, Shuichi ends up in the same class as Doi, who was a pest back in grade school. Meanwhile, Yoshino is inspired to take a new step after seeing Chizuru wear a boys' uniform to school again. At the same time, Maho tells Shuichi to stop dressing like a girl since he's going out with Anna. Shuichi, after considerable deliberation, decides to tell Anna that he likes to dress up as a girl.

Cool Girlfriend

Yoshino finally decides to go to school in a boys' uniform. While she's embarrassed by the way everyone else reacts, she feels somewhat relieved. However, Shuichi is secretly envious of her... Meanwhile, Shuichi is unable to refuse the request of Doi, who fell in love with Yuki-san at first sight, so he takes Doi to meet Yuki-san. Doi is surprised to learn that Yuki-san used to be a man, but at the same time, he becomes interested in seeing Shuichi dress up as a girl. The next day, Doi asks Shuichi to dress up as a girl for him...

After wearing a sailor uniform to school, Shuichi can no longer go to school. Maho also refuses to go to school, and Shuichi feels responsible. Doi improvisation on Shuichi's script is a surprising hit, so Shuichi grits his teeth and asks Doi to help with the script. Meanwhile, Saori invites Shuichi over to wear girls' clothes for the first time in a while. Things are almost back to the way they were, but nevertheless... Shuichi reflects as he looks at Saori's dresses. And finally, the cultural festival is here.
