First and foremost: The title made me skip this drama several times in spite of the fact one of my favorite actors (Hye Ok Kim) was in the cast. Finally I stopped long enough to read the synopsis and decided to give it a try. I wasn't disappointed.

Like many kdramas the plot was rather predictable. However, it was played-out in such a way as to not be boring. The acting was comfortable and well executed. Of all the characters, I enjoyed Ji-Su the most. While I realize the purpose of her character was to "tug" at your heart strings and make you curse her husband for even thinking of being interested in another woman, it was still a wonderful piece of acting. Additionally, Bong-ki's character growth, from start to finish, was a joy to watch; it was like seeing a child go from immature adolescence to considerate young adult over a period of a few months.

To be certain, there were some disappointments. Two things stand out more than others; first with the elderly kitchen worker in the beginning... I'm given to believe she was to have made a reappearance but for whatever reason that was omitted. Secondly, Ji-Su's situation should have been resolved. Even if it was in the form of "news" from the states that her treatment was progressing well and the outcome was hopeful. Instead, she left and that was the end of her. Then again, I understand that in storytelling, some characters are designed solely as foils for other characters. As such, that a reader or viewer garners greater concern for them than the writer, should not be seen as a shortfall on the writer's part.

On the music I'll say I loved the background tracks but the "songs" were a bit uninspired. The background music was delightful; everything from the busy and upbeat tune used while Bong-sun was cooking to the delicate piano tune that signified the more sentimental moments.

Last but not least... there was the talking bear-phone. Never has something so simple and so silly made me feel so wonderful.

All-in-all, I'm happy I finally decided to watch this. It was well worth the time invested and I'd recommend it for anyone looking for an enjoyable romantic comedy with deeper dramatic moments intertwined.

I haven't finished watching the series yet, I'm on episode 12 now, but that's 12 hours of "I really, really like you!" At first it's really slow, but I was interested to see how Yeo Bung-sun would mature in the future. I knew that she wouldn't and couldn't be stuck in the same situation for the rest of her life. Really, no matter how difficult or slow the episodes are, they're ALL important, they all have a purpose to build the characters and the relationship between them! I read once that Bong-ki was the best actor in this group, but really...all of them are GREAT. All of them are top notch, I love the Bong-ki's dad and the kitchen staff the most!! I hope you'll tune in sometime, it's worth it!

I Enjoyed This Show!

Eugene can be annoying with all her whining, but it doesn't get too out of hand. I enjoyed her has an actress, but I would have loved less whining. The guy who plays Bong-ki is hilarious! Loved him. Jun Won was great, but Bong-ki was definitely the highlight.

I watched IRRLY last year on another site. It's one of my favorites. I'm glad to see it's now on Crunchyroll.

I started rewatching it on my TV through ROKU and was pleasantly surprised to see that the TV version is different, and I think better, that the PC version.

For one thing, it has more complete subtitles. A few examples: the words to the opening titles song are translated; the event that the President is attending in the first episode is identified as the Police Academy 22nd Commencement Ceremony; and the stickers the security people are pasting on the air vents say "do not touch."

In addition, the first episode starts differently. In the TV version there is a news story scene before the opening titles that introduces the place Bong-Soon and her granmother live and notes that thier house is built of cork oak which you don't see much anymore. Okay boddieeeee!

I recommend this show highly, and the additional detail in the TV version makes it even better.

i'll be as honest as possible, so it gets across. for one thing, i hate the title. those tv shows and movies that get released in different countries sometime are released with a different title. frankly this title sucks. after you're done watching this whole thing, you probably wish they renamed it hillbilly girl or something else.

its that girl singer again, the one from SES, by the name eugene i believe. i think what i like about this show is that this singer/actress took on a role that surprised us. it feels like she wanted to play a character thats the complete opposite of her real self. so if you know this korean star, you might be thinking the same thing.

some of these reviews are really poor. they're not picking it apart enough to make you see the real picture. whether you warm up to the characters or not, the real point is, what they have as a whole, with a start and finish leaving nothing out. uh well there is a plot hole or plot holes. if thats acceptable because the show works as a ''comedy'', then the show got away with drawing you in. if you've seen a lot of k-dramas already, you'll know that these dramas approaches everything with simplicity. the ones that don't have a better storyline. for most melodramas, they'll do enough work to make you ''feel'', and thats too easy to do. if you get suck in that easily, then any k-drama would do the trick no matter what its about.

the show have interesting characters with interesting names, with a storyline that would be mostly remembered for the fish out of water element. there is add on harsh jokes and some of them go no where. also not to mention, korean's theme of adding toilet and poop humor. if you find that entertaining then they've done their job. there's also a lot of name calling, which keeps you watching, but its annoying. another element the show added was, if i'm at my right state of mind, parodies of other k-dramas... lol if not, then its more of a mockery to other shows. there isn't much of a screenplay, i mean it is a tv show, so what you see is what you get. the high standards came from some of the writing, but not all of it.

the doctor's wife, who has dementia if i'm not mistaken, like we haven't seen enough of someone getting dementia in most korean dramas! she decides to leave korea and go to a hospital in the USA for better treatment. ok nothing wrong with the idea, but we don't see the outcome of this character at the end!!! now i know the main cast is the doctor, the bodyguard, and the hillbilly, but this is the doctor's wife, and we see her a lot as well, along with the daughter. talk about a plothole. leaving her story out felt VERY wrong to me, because there isn't that many characters to deal with, so bad decision the show made. if her part was very minor, they didn't have to show her so much, like with all the crying, to seeing her trying to live normally, etc. are we suppose to feel sorry for her? or ignore this side story until we get to the main story? to why the show is call 'i really really like you' i don't know, because through out the show, i don't remember seeing one of the main guys saying that. we do see all the 'i love you' in different languages.

for music, i don't remember much, but it wasn't annoying i suppose. i think when any music doesn't grab your attention, you can't remember a bit of it.

the ending in conclusion went more like a big joke. you see the actors say crap like the drama is over blah blah, but during this, they're still in character, so very pathetic. it just threw me off because it came out of no where. if they gonna drop their guard as the characters, they should at least just be themselves for the last few minutes. a 3 out of 5 is more right on. adding on the doctor's wife side story with no real result at the end feels like a flaw. ultimately its about the 3 characters in the beginning, and it ends with the bodyguard and the hillbilly. just that the side stories shouldn't over shadow them, which it kinda did.

what a corky beautiful KOREAN DRAMA, LOVE IT!!!!!!

My favorite drama so far!!

Plot: There are no stupid jerky boys that a stupid up-in-the-air girl falls head over heals for, it wasn't always deadly serious like some dramas (even in the deadly serious scenes you could find something funny), in fact there was a LOT of random comedy in this, especially when you're the only one who knows why it's funny. I actually liked the scenes where they focus on minor characters for a while (in other dramas I usually want to fast forward through them) , I liked how you were up-to-dateon the other characters and how they felt in certain situation... I notice in other dramas it can be hard to tell how anyone feels...

Music: I've been singing (humming?) the songs wherever I got since I started the drama. The music is really good and addictive!! But sometimes I kinda got bored of it while I was watching...I love the harmonies....

Characters: BEST~!!! I will never forget their faces and who they represent...

Acting: Was amazing. I noticed, after a few episodes, that it's the best acting I've ever seen.

What I Liked:

I loved the characters, first of all. Even when the story line was getting sappy and annoying, Bong-Ki's eccentric character gave me motivation to continue watching. Bong-Ki is definitely one of my all time favorite characters :), he's just too cute. Bong-Soon was very nice and amusing when she wasn't being melodramatic and sappy =/, but otherwise, she was nice. And there was a lot of hate on Dr. Jang, aka Joo Won, but, excepting the latter parts of the series, I thought he was actually very sweet -especially in the ending. Characters like Ji-Soo and Hyo-Won were also very nice =).

What I Did Not Like:

Bong-Sun's mother made me want to tear my hair out sometimes - she was just seriously that annoying @_@. She had her sweet moments, though. The story line was kind of annoying sometimes, but it all turned out for the best.

Awesome drama, better than I expected. The characters were awesome as well, very well played roles. For a minute I thought it was not going to end well, but am happy because of the overall outcome.....chickenhead & fathead together = great drama ^_^
