    Fun premise, weak execution
Based on the first and second episodes I thought this was going to be great, but fan service has been substituted for the development of the main characters' relationship. The animation quality also drops significantly after a gorgeous first episode.

Had amazing potential but after the 4th ep went downhill (spoilers)
This show had amazing potential. the first 4 episodes were great. the animation, the drama the thrill of how they will overcome an great enemy. But after the 4 ep it was all gone. Turned into another typical anime with decent animation. the quality of battles dropped as well which really made this show stand out unlike others. They put so much effort in showing us what a true battlefield looks ...

Had a great premise but lost it half way threw.
    On episode 7:
Animation(13/20): The animation for this anime is getting lazier by the episode. The first couple of episodes had great animation. But now There are a lot of still frames and some strange looking times in the show. For example, when one the archduke talks to izetta the only things that moves for about 6 seconds is her mouth and it looked very inorganic.

    SoundTrack(15/20): Even ...

Will Not Be First to Shout "Last!"
Love and loyalty, pain and loss are touchstones of all our lives, and few environments amplify them as does the devastation of war. Such is the unfortunate setting in which two childhood friends reunite. Izetta, whose family has been deliberately if slowly exterminated because of their hereditary witchcraft, must decide if the kindness shown by one person can overwrite generations of ...

Good idea but lacks in certain areas.
Shummatsu no Izetta is a fantasy war anime set in an alternate past. It focuses on a small country in Europe called Eylstadt and it's struggles with the invasion of Germania.
The whole "witch" idea comes into play when a witch is awoken and is used (of their own consent) to fight against Germania.

This anime is overall a good anime but it does lack a lot of necessary attributes, first lets get ...

Pick one; Fantasy or Realism. This is why you can't do both.
This was a fun idea for a story. It starts off promising too. Izetta and Fine are a really cute pairing, there's some cool action, and there's some appeal to the idea of a witch swooping in and stopping what was the worst war in history.

But the series quickly starts to feel rushed, trying to cover far too much content in too few episodes. The last 1/3 of the series is absolutely horribly ...

A bad rough draft of a story with (squandered) potential
Came for the interesting premise (WWII with magic). Stuck around because the story seemed to be trying to set up a complex political conflict and because Finé and Izetta's relationship (one of the series' focal points, as seen by the promotional poster) seemed like it would be interesting.

But what Izetta: The Last Witch offers in the end is what I could only describe as a rough draft of a ...

Really Good- but not perfect historical fiction
This starts out with a few elements that might seem somewhat cliche: a typical teen princess, a typical looking magical girl locked in a box. Overly handsome villains who grin about everything. But I was intrigued by the alternate history- not just because I love alt history anime but because of how it was adapted with this story.
You aren't telling a happy story if it's in Europe during World ...

Wonderful WWII battle-witch drama that squandered its potential
I really enjoyed the first half of this show about a powerful witch fighting in the second world war. Its worth four stars just for the third episode. The story is pretty good and the characters - especially the princess and the witch - are interesting. However, the show takes a turn for the worst around episode 7, and becomes very depressing very fast - unnecessarily so, in my opinion; I ...

    boring witch story sorry
i watched this anime up until episode 9 and found that i got more bored with the anime. i never say the plot go any further. the sub plots are never used through. the sexuality of the witch and the princess was brought up every episode. they are friends but maybe not wink wink. the story wanted to be a magical girl series but the nasty war messed it up. it was annoying i just quit
