  • An atmospheric espionage series.
An atmospheric espionage series set in pre World War 2 Japan, this show shows members of a small clandestine organization as they employ their tradecraft against their enemies and, sometimes, their allies. No side has a real moral ground; rival groups jostle for political primacy, and agents are all shades of gray - in the spymasters' own words, monsters.

An excellent series, one that can be ...

A card game not about cards
Yes folks, this is a show all about spies and deception. This is a very mature show, that's set in the middle of WW2. You easily get lost trying to figure out who's in the D-Agency; but no need to worry, they always use extensive exposition to catch you up. This show definitely isn't for those who want nonstop, random, fan-service, action oriented anime.

I personally enjoyed the complexity of ...

  • I love a good spy show!
I really do. I even love period pieces more, so this one was an immediate "Add to Queue: choice. However, I took too long to get to it, but am glad I finally finished it. Very smart characters, and I love the period (as mentions) and locations that the series skipped around in. It give it a more....I don't want to say bigger feel, but it shows how spread out D-Agency was in the world, which is ...

A Show That is Worth Watching
This show is bold, complex and sensitive. JOKER GAME shows all aspects of a spy's life by piecing together stories of the monsters employed at D-Agency. How to live as a spy, work as a spy, die as a spy...watch its intensely entertaining episodes and find out what makes these men truly great at what they do.

  • Joker Game is like a Magic Trick
Being a spy is something allot of children dream of when they're younger... Something is just appealing about going on dangerous and exciting missions. Going undercover to discover some secret society or evil organization is just extremely interesting and fun to think about. However unlike those spy movies about beating your enemy with only your fists, and defeating a whole organization of people ...

  • Enough Tension but Not Much Plot
Let's first forget about the doubtfully super skills of the characters. The show does use its setting well enough to generate tension and uneasiness that enhances the tension. There isn't much plot that extends from each single episode, but the amount of plot for a single episode is enough for the episode to be an exciting slice-of-lice piece.

(4 stars for lack of deep plot for a non-comedy ...

    Unexpected turn of events.
A different approach to the spying genre. At first, I was very reluctant in watching this anime. However, after finishing watching episode 1 I was enticed and interested into the finishing the entire series. It revolves on a number of people who are highly trained for spying. A highly recommended show for a much more mature audience.

  • 7 episodes in. Love it.
Great anime. Confusing because of all of the characters and once in a while you may be surprised who is part of the group if you forget what they all look like. Each episode has focused on one character (even though the first 2 have them all in it but both of those focus on one guy) so far. Good animation, good story each episode. I'm a huge fan of Sherlock Holmes and although this isn't a ...

    Interesting and unusual, but disjointed.
Joker Game is an interesting and unusual anime that forgoes many of the commonly used ideas and cliches to produce something that manages to stand out from the crowd, however I cannot say if it manages to distinguish itself in an entirely good way.

The writing and intrigue it manages to establish are the standout points for the show; by aiming for an older audience and exploring matters ...
