  • One of the most underrated series on this site.
Kaiji is a story of despair and triumph, a story of putting everything on the line, a story of gambling. The story has fantastic flow that'll hook you in and the art style really shines thanks to madhouse. Don't write this show off if you don't like the art style, unless you absolutely can't stand it. If you want to watch something that you can't put down until you finish it, that has twists and ...

  • Brilliant! Zawa zawa~
Enthralling suspense, incredible twists and unforgettable characters. Even if the 'cartoonish' art style (which tends to grow on one...) turns you off when looking at previews, if thrilling stories are your thing please give Kaiji a chance -- you will not regret it!

  • Zawa Zawa Zawa Zawa Zawa
This is the kind of show that takes a good suspense anime and raises it to 11/7. It seems to be so hard to get people to watch it because its about gambling, it is not a negative. There are almost no moments that will leave you disappoined and even when they do you wont care cause this show delivers

  • A fantastic story that drags it's feet a bit
I just binged this whole series in 2 night, and I absolutely loved it. That is to say, however, it is not perfect. The series has an incredibly drawn out pace that feels like it takes an eternity for anything to happen, but maybe that's why the resolutions at the end of each arc are so satisfying, so take that however you want. The only other problem with the show is it's over abundance of Deus ex ...

When it comes right down to it, I just don't like it.
To be honest I was looking for a good psychological anime, and someone recommended this to me. I was a bit intrigued at first, quite a bit of the premise felt good for an anime but when I started watching it, it felt predictable. At some points in the anime i found myself just fast forwarding through some of the long drawn out explanations of simple ideas and concepts and overall it just felt ...

  • kaiji is the best show
This is the best mind boggling anime you will ever watch in your life. The creator of this should receive a pat on the back. I was seriously addicted to this show in every way possible. The way how you would be so eager to watch the next episode is amazing. I also loved that the art work was so different than other animes. Simply quite amazing!

    KAIJI?? A GREAT SHOW.
If you like "intellectual anime", aka anime that involves a lot of heavy thinking and strategy, you will love this anime. but you will also hate it: the episodes end at crucial scenes, sometimes it takes forever for a problem to be resolved (especially the second season), but this show was truly amazing. it had me at the edge of my seat almost every episode. I would add it to my other favorites; ...

First chapter is great but the second is not worth your time.
The first 10 episodes where Kaiji is down in the pit are great. If the season ended there I would have rated it 5 stars. But the entire pachinko chapter ruined it. The second half of the season suffers from DragonBall Z syndrome. They stretch 4 episodes worth of content into 14. A few of the episodes moved slower than real life. 20 minutes of animation yet only 5 minutes pass in the anime world. If ...

  • Great Psychologial Drama
My preference in anime are the more serious, psychological stories, and Kaiji is a very good one as far as those go. It's all about a lazy bum that gets involved with a shady yakuza-type group to repay his debts through series of "games." It's also somewhat motivational, as if you can hear the author's regrets about his past in Kaiji himself (or just the author's thoughts on lazy people who ...

  • Awkwardly Emotionally Engaging
I honestly didn't think I cared much for this anime in the beginning but for some reason I kept watching. Each episode I found myself talking to the screen, calling Kaiji an idiot. I realized how strange this was - being awkwardly emotionally involved, not to the anime as a whole, but to the character, Kaiji. While the drama and suspense are engaging, it was watching dude struggle with obvious ...
