Glad I gave it a chance.
This is hands-down the best anime of the Spring 2012 season. I wasn't all that eager to watch it at first glance and the first episode was so-so for me, but by the second episode I was hooked and I haven't been disappointed since.

Although I enjoy much of the silly shounen stuff, it's wonderful shows like this with good characters and good storytelling (not to mention an excellent jazz ...

    Accurate and great animation!
As an instrumentalist, I have to say this is one of the first where all the animations for the instruments are accurate! The fluidity of the animation and the quality behind all of the sound and characters is terrific. Love this series!

    such attention to detail
I really enjoy this anime, I was blow away with the attention to detail they go through to animate the musicians. Even take the time to video record live performances and then animate based on real performances just shows how much attention to detail they are striving for. I love the story line as well.

    Favorite Music Anime
This anime is by far one of my favorites. Although I was really not really appealed by it at first, after watching the first episode I was hooked. However I was a bit disappointed that their was no saxophone player in the group. Come on now whats's a Jazz band without a saxophone. Aside from that though I definitely recommend others to watch this.

    My New Favorite Anime
I was very skeptical about watching this series when I first saw it a few weeks ago on CR. I thought it was interesting, especially after seeing the trailers, but put it in the back of my mind. I finally started watching it a few nights ago because the title still stuck to me, and I loved it and am still loving it.

The story follows a transfer student (Kaoru) who unwillingly befriends a "rough ...

  • So far, my favorite this spring
Here is this season's josei title, a high-school historical drama about friendship, romance, and music. The realistic, but gentle animation is a pleasure to watch, the jazz ensembles get you feelin' the swing, and and the characters take you on a fun emotional joyride.

OK, there's not much of this series out at the moment, but so far it's the series I most look forward to seeing episode ...

    Excite over Watanabe/ Kanno collaboration
The earlier Watanabe/ Kanno collaboration of Cowboy Bebop had huge influences from both jazz and blues music. With it's mix of bluegrass, swing, and vocal jazz., arguable, the second soundtrack from that collaboration, Cowboy Bebop No Disc, showcased what made the series great. Now, to centerpiece that music genre in an anime series and use that human passion for music to develop both character ...

  • Refreshing and special
This is such an unusual anime - set in the sixties, more adult oriented and more subtle in its themes. It starts with the typical high school transfer student and begins with three-way friendship loaded with exploration, acceptance and lots of teen angst. The jazz theme is really refreshing and subversive, I mean at that time, especially in Japan, jazz is a rebellious type of music.

    The ...
