An odd sense of Deja Vu
Honestly I felt like I had watched this before somehow. It was the weirdest thing, turns out I have back around 2003/2004. While I can say the atmosphere in this seems a bit brighter I figure it is mostly because of the advances in artwork in the 14 years between development cycles. Speaking of, the artwork in this show is fantastic focusing on vast landscapes that are incredibly detailed. For ...

    Beautifully Done Without Question
If you're looking for something more upbeat, this really isn't the anime for you. That said, I think this anime is going to be the one I'm most excited about each week. It was one of the few that I was most curious about to start with and the one that immediately had me interested in seeing where the story goes without any reservations after one episode.

    the literal middle ground
    So,

This anime is not Kino's Journey, if we are to attribute that title to the light novel it came from. Thus it's hard to give it 5 stars for basically using the same name and story, and creating the anime that does not have the same style.

However, as a stand alone, I can see some viewers enjoying it, so it's not something that deserves 1 star.

I do not enjoy this anime, but I think ...

    Deserves At Least 4 Stars
After only watching one episode, it seems a little premature to give a 5 star review, but this is probably the best of this season's releases I have seen so far.

There's mystery: Who is Kino and what lead him to this journey. There's action: He's packing at least 2 pistols; a revolver and a semi-auto. The banter with his "autorrad," Hermes, provides a light touch. But most of all, I like ...

This is a WONDER-FULLL anime!!! It is a BEAUTY-FULL anime!!!
I did not realize that I had forgotten how wonderfully touching such stories could be. This is wonderful, I am going to watch the original again. The absolute favourite among anime.
There are very few works that try to appeal to your emotions, through your intelligence. I understand it is a super-niche market, especially with the stigma anime possesses, still when such a piece comes along it ...

    Nice but not the original
As someone who loves the original Kino's Journey, this seems like a watered down, more accessible version of the show. Which will be good for many people. This is way more upbeat and colorful despite the events not being any cheerier. Also Kino suddenly became kawaii for some reason.

What really disappointed me was the colosseum episode. The 2003 show had far longer, more detailed fights and ...

Original version is much better IMHO
The 2003 version has a unique quality that strongly appealed to me -- close to a masterpiece IMO -- but it might be too unusual for some. This 2017 effort is more conventional in its character design, art work, and dialog. On the plus side some further stories from the light novel series will be included,

So easy and calming to watch this enjoyable show
Note: I never saw the original show.

I'm not normally interested in slice'of'life shows like this, but Kino has me sold. She's a joy to simply listen to and watch as she travels the world that is so vastly differently from our own.

From a talking motorcycle to entire countries that can travel; Kino meets interesting people that result in equally as interesting plots each episode.

A soaring concept, chained to the ground by corner-cutting
Kino's Journey's original series was sparkling but in this sense, not ever so much better, in that the concepts were told, not shown, more often than not. A series of Ghibli-like Swiss/Italian/Dutch towns where people have hugely different beliefs or lifestyles. It's Star Trek but the crew's an androgynous gunslinger with a talking bike. I love that.
    But this was disappointing.
    A standoff meant ...

Very unique, eclectic and refreshing new anime! Well done
Kudos to the makers and animators of this fine production. This is a unique anime that seems to be story (plot driven). The OVA is breathtakingly stunning, and only one episode in I can proudly say I look forward to watching more to see how this anime unfolds. So far it is about a youngish girl Kino and her motorrad (Hermes, yes he talks), I am not sure if the dialogue is in Kino's mind, who ...
