Kite Liberator

Kite Liberator is pretty good, however, it seems like some of the creative element may not have been tied into the story line very well. And the ending, this seems to be a point of contention. It is actually not a bad ending if a little abrupt. Here is why:



If you read the above spoiler, you can see how I can say that all of the story lines were brought to their full and final conclusion. I agree that the ending was abrupt and a little less than fulfilling but, it is a true ending in the literary sense. This is why the movie is titled "Liberator". They liberate each other from their fates by mirroring each other and showing what they have become.

The animation is very good, perhaps not exceptional top of the line, but far better than average. All of the characters are drawn uniquely and the overall look and feel is realistic.

Several people have commented on nudity and sex but, I didn't see that much. The movie had it's moments in the diner but those were all handled in a manner that made it very clear that that behavior is not acceptable. If nudity and sex are abhorrent to you, do not watch the original. It could be classified as a porn flick. That said, I can not agree with the reviewer berating the director, While I far from like the director's style, he does not show women as helpless vessels of male pleasure. If anything, it is the opposite. He shows women who are willing to endure anything to meet their ends; making them stronger than anyone realizes.

Overall, I would recommend Kite Liberator as a good stand alone movie to watch. I wish it could have been a little longer to give a satisfying end. Maybe five to ten minutes to provide a good dénouement beyond what is there.

The Ending

Overall: Its a extremely graphic (sexually and blood-wise) movie with intense action and a unique plot. In my personal opion if they removed the sexual content or just reduced it greatly it would make for a compelling and deep action/thriller movie, but the sexual content does at points disturb and distract from a very well done movie
Storyline: A sympathetic character with the ability to shoot people? Sounds good to me.
Music: Not very memorable.
Characters: Small Cast; not very well developed characters, but somewhat compelling
Animation: The action scenes are great and very well done, the unnecessary sexual content not so much.

Occasionally, I watch things that just leave me scratching my head and thinking, "What the HELL?"

Sometimes, if the WTH factor is done well, it makes you think deep thoughts about artistic expression. At other times, it just makes you think, wistfully, about the hour of your life that you'll never get back.

Kite Liberator was one of the latter films.

I saw the first Kite movie a few years ago, and remember it as a brief, graphically-violent story of a schoolgirl super-assassin, her abusive handlers, and her tentative (and doomed) friendship with a fellow teenaged super-assassin. Not all the ends were tied up, but there were some fabulous action sequences, and a definite story arc and so when The End rolled across the screen, I was reasonably satisfied that I'd just seen a fairly complete narrative.

Not so with Kite Liberator, which clocks in at slightly less than an hour, a time constraint you'd think would lead the production company to insist on a tightly-focused story.

Okay, it looks like the director of the first Kite movie and Mezzo forte Yasuomi Umetsu has made another anime thats just has to have scenes of sexual assault and mindless action and violence.But for once there is not a pornographic version of this movie, and I also think Yasuomi needs to be locked up in a mental hospital because he is really screwed up in the head. Its like Yasuomi hates women so much he expresses it in his anime films by portraying them being treated like crap or like freakin sex objects for Christ sake, I hate this guy so much! I already feel mad enough as it is wasting an hour watching this stupid movie. First of all Kite: Liberator is a let down, it lacks in a storyline and plot. The ending is especially unforgivable and very unsatisfying. The characters aren't interesting at all and too forgettable, some of them are just there for the heck of it, nothing for them to do except stand there in the movie, only the main character did everything (I forgot her name hmm... I wonder why?), and also the characters took themselves way too seriously in this movie when it was really not called for at all, and neither was this movie. The English voice acting is terrible. Just about every square inch of this piece of crap for an anime is nothing but a disaster. Alright... look! All you really need to know is that this anime sucks! So save your time and money and skip this title, trust me your better off watching teletubbies than this... a 1.5/5 Terrible, 2 thumbs way down!!!

#1 lesson of the day, don't EVER expect anything good from Yasuomi Umetsu

This is a wonderfully animated movie, With a storyline so complex yet not overly complex you'll love it. I wouldn't say its original character types but they are the works for a great anime. The only problem with this movie is that it doesnt finish the story? I don't know if there's a manga out there that finishes this or if there is a second movie in the works but this movie was great overall other than the fact the story moved fast and isn't finished.

I just watched this today & let me tell you it was so capitvatinqq! The main character leadss a double life : 1. As an averaqe teenaqer livinq with her uncle & 2. A qirl assassin named the Anqel of Death. This movie will keep you on your feet & wantinqq moree! Sooo you better watch this onee!
