An excellent anime, and the dub was very good as well

This anime was very good and original. But for some reason it really reminded me of Shakugan no Shana (Which was also very good). The characters were believable, and I actually cared for them. The animation was top quality, probably some of the best I've seen in a while (Though Kara no Kyoukai has the best animation I've ever seen). Overall, I really recommend watching it. It's got good comedy, and most of Funimation's best voice actors are in this, so you know the dub at least has a score of 7 out of 10.

Overall this anime was fantastic. The twist near the end caught me by storm, and pretty much all the major characters were fleshed out completely. I really wish they extended it or didn't end it so quickly though. Or perhaps even add a few more seasons

I'll just start off by saying that I have not read the Kurokami manga, so I am basing this solely on the anime and cannot speak to how it may be different from the source material.

I really enjoyed this show, overall. The characters are very strong, especially Kuro, and although people say that Keita is too 'normal' or 'boring' in the anime version, I (not knowing any different) really didn't have any problems with him. He's not a bad character, and in fact acts in very believable ways for someone thrust into the sort of situation he finds himself in.

The animation is very good, especially at key points. Obviously, as in many of these shows, they really blow the bank on the first episode in order to draw people in, and they certainly did here. The fight scene at the end of episode 1 is one of my favorite fight scenes in any anime ever, because it is so well animated and choreographed (and wonderfully brutal). Although the show doesn't ever reach that height again, it's action scenes remain well-executed without.

The biggest weakness of this show, in my opinion, is a middle section which gets downright boring. When I originally watched this, I was really into it at first, and then lost interest around the middle, maybe episode fourteen or fifteen, and actually gave up on it for a couple months. Then I finally went back and pushed through that middle section, and by the time I hit episode 19 or 20 I was way back into it and loving it again.

So, overall, good series, They flubbed the mid-section - it's boring and cliche. But push through it and it gets good again after a few episodes.

Kurokami The Animation: 23 Episodes Review

I saw this anime when I was buying a DVD volume of another anime and the cover got my interest so I searched this anime on the net and read its plot. As I read it I was kind of interested with its unique story about doppelgangers because I never watched any anime with this theme so I decided to give it a try.

So for my review I’ll be focusing on storyline, characters, music, and visuals. First would be the storyline, the anime’s story is very good for me. Aspects I was looking for in an anime were here like development of power, demon/devil inside, and twists and turns. These three aspects combined together with fantasy made a really great storyline. Development of power was shown as Kuro learns new powerful exceeds, from megaexe to gigaexe and finally teraexe. Demon/devil inside was shown in the last few episodes when Kuro learns that one of the three masagami dwells within her. Then the twist and turn that I most liked was when Kuro and Keita found out that Akane formed a contract with Reishin, that part really made me think a lot of things and it was really great to come up with such. Second is regarding characters, I’ll just say something for each. For Kuro she’s just so cute when eating ramen, for Keita his character development was great but I hate it when he chose Akane over Kuro, for Akane she’s just a kind and typical character, and for Reishin at first he’s a cool bad guy then in the end he’s still cool but now a good guy. Third aspect would be music, the only song I liked in this anime was the first ending theme titled “Irodori No Nai Sekai”. Whenever I listen to this I feel a peaceful yet lonely ambiance and it’s great. And last aspect would the visuals, I didn’t find most of the characters visually appealing but to compensate for that the fight scenes were just amazing so I’ll rate the visuals to be good as well.

Overall this anime for me is good and I recommend it to those who are looking for an anime with cool fight scenes. Hope my review helped you.

Fascinating characters, well-thought-out story. And a *complete* story at that - no real room for spinoffs or sequels. Nice to see a story wrap itself up in such a complete and fairly non-enigmatic fashion.

I'll never understand the Japanese fascination with Transformation Sequences ("Synchro!"), but at least they're short, and (with a few exceptions) only done once an episode.

I was really impressed by the soundtrack and the use of music in this title. The music itself wasn't necessarily anything to write home about, but what they used really blended in nicely with the action and events on screen.

The character designs were fairly standard for this style, and were a little worn on the edges in some spots - unusual postures, motions, or distance shots had some defects or just didn't seem to fit the quality of the rest of the show. Still, I'd call it above normal and let it go.

Important to remember: Don't skip the closing credits. Over the course of the show, the closing credits are modified to reflect changes in the story, and important (sometimes VERY important) bits of story are shown after the credits are over, when most series would have a "next week on". Don't skip, you'll regret it.

I found this series a very enjoyable anime to watch!! The whole Dopple liner system was a shock to me, and exciting. The characters were mind bending and surprising. I would advise everyone to watch this anime.

A fantastic yet down to earth type of show with plenty of comedy, drama and action to boot. a pretty good story with some really interesting characters, yet also some down right boring ones to (Delete them?) I kinda found showing every single synchro to be annoying but I suppose it was because I watched the entire series all together instead of a week per episode.

Altogether an emotionaly mature yet funny anime with some very valid points on living life in general. Highly recommended. Great show.

Totally awesome!!!!!

For me who has not read the manga black god (which I probably will really soon) It is a really awesome anime!!! Everybody usually says that the manga is better than the anime but to me I don't like to compare manga's and anime's because a manga is a manga and a anime is a anime I only like to count them as separate things, and they are separate things, so dont rate the anime down just because of the manga. anime and manga are really different.

So for my review I think this anime by itself is really awesome, the characters are well developed, the storyline is really good, the animation is awesome (and really epic), the music always matches the part of the episode and I really like all the opening and ending songs. Overall in my opinion it is a really good and worthwhile anime to watch.

Disclaimer: I didn't read the manga and watched with Japanese audio.

Storyline:
The story starts of rather basic, displaying the life of an ordinairy-not-too-happy guy, who then by chance meets the heroine of the story. After which the story takes of and he gets sucked into a world filled with action, villains and a bit of drama. Also not uncommon, he tries to resist the change in his life at first before going along. So nothing really special about the way it has been told. However the story itself is interesting enough, giving a nice twist to the doppleganger phenomena in the series translated to doppleliner effect. It's also interesting how the characters in the series make use of and resist this phenomena. In addition the series displays a good atmosphere and isn't lacking in action and battles of both small and larger scales. Also fortunately all but a few battles are story driven and not pointless time-filling.
Altogether the storyline and action is entertaining enough to keep you watching and looking forward to see what happens in the next episode. Though in the last few episodes of the series the doppleliner effect is pushed more to the side as it tries to move to a disappointing climax, followed by an unsatisfying ending.

Characters:
The characters in the series bring about a lot of mixed feelings. The development of the main characters Ibuki Keita and Kuro and the bond they form is very standard throughout the series. Keita starts as a guy that is (justified) depressed and reluctant to fight or change his life. He eventually turns into your motivated, inspiring and morally correct hero-type guy. Kuro pretty much stays the same throughout the series. A cute, powerful, friendly, funny and caring heroine; your highly likable protagonist. While the series focuses heavily on the bond they form, the concern they have for each other and how this effects their power, somehow the real resulting social aspects seem to be somewhat lacking. They show concern for each others well being, tell each other how happy they are that they've met, yet still it all feels a bit hollow. Especially towards the ending.
It's the bad guys in the series where the characters really shine. Personally I think Daichi Kuraki is the best character. He stays in the background at first, while having something mysterious about him before becoming more prominent. He is intelligent, cunning, keeping valid trump cards until required. His back-story and relation to Ibuki Keita are also given enough detail and attention. As with most of the bad guys, he isn't really evil, but uses questionable means to achieve his goals. Also a big plus in the series is that the bad guys don't start monologuing and reveal all the details of their motivation and plans. Even though the protagonists repeatedly ask them to do so. The taunting, explanations and general dialog in the battles also isn't annoying.
The supporting characters are also different enough from each other to be interesting and add to the story. Some are done better than others, overall good.

Music:
The music in the series is timed well, is suitable and adds to the environment. Also I really liked the first OP and first two endings. I like the details of how the animation of the ending goes along with the music. (The animation in the ending also changes a bit for various episodes so it's worth watching.) Okay it's perhaps not all Cowboy Bebop quality good for 7 OSTs, but still as mentioned all suits the series and is used well.

Animation:
The animation is generally well done. There is plenty of detail to be found in most environments outside of the battles. The battles themself look mostly interesting with good physics. And the characters are easy to distinguish. On the downside the movement of chracters through the environment sometimes looks a bit odd. Overal, good.

Final verdict:
Overal good. Entertaining enough to keep you watching and contains a few things to make it stand out, but also with a few points that keep it from being really great.
