Otakon 2011 Interview with Kylee:

Please introduce yourself.
Hi everyone! I’m Kylee. I’m a 17 year old singer from Arizona.

How was your concert?
So much fun and it was my first performance at a concert in the U.S. and the audience was amazing!

How did you get into singing?

Ever since I was 3, I’ve always been singing and listening to Avril Lavigne back then. When I was 11, that’s when I decided it might be fun to sing in front of an audience so I sang the national anthem in Oregon. I auditioned for that and after I performed I was like, I wanted to be able to sing so that’s how it all began.

I heard you are still in high school, how do you balance your music career and schoolwork?
It’s really hard. Some days I have to leave school to do some performance but my family and friends fully support me so it encourages me to never give up. I love both school and performing so you just need the motivation to keep going.

Have you felt any difference in being half-Japanese, half American in succeeding in the music industry?
Not really getting into the industry but more of while I’m in the industry. Because I’m half Japanese I’m not as good in speaking Japanese as other people so I had to work on that once I got in. I would also like to get some of my American flavor into my Japanese music.

What are you dreams/goals for the next 5 years?
I just started playing the acoustic guitar so to be able to perform live and to be able to write my own lyrics in both English and Japanese.

Kylee’s message to her fans: Hey everyone, I’m SO glad to have this opportunity to perform in the U.S. and I’m also excited to not only continue working in Japan but hopefully in the U.S. as well.

Everlasting for Gundam just came out so check it out on itunes.
