This is a character list for the video game Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryū to Hikari no Ken (and, by extension, its enhanced remakes Monshō no Nazo and Shadow Dragon), a tactical role-playing game developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo; the Japanese original is the first game of the Fire Emblem series. Before Shadow Dragon, the eleventh in the series, the game was never officially released in English-language territories with English character names. The names as presented here are for the most part the product of fan translation and subject to change upon the release in North American, Europe and other PAL markets. The list summarizes the roles of all playable characters (units that can be controlled by the player) and major non-player characters (units that can't be controlled by the player) that appear during the course of the story. Most of these characters appear in all three (re)telling(s) of the story with a few additions or omissions. Monshō no Nazo contains a sequel, or "Book Two" which is a continuation of events, following the same characters. The remake of the original Ankoku Ryū to Hikari no Ken, is then called "Book One" or Shadow Dragon as a second remake.
