Early Life
Andy Lau Tak-Wah is now a very famous actor and singer around Asia, Andy Lau Tak-Wah was born to a poor family in rural town Taipo in New Territories, Hong Kong. For two years, 10-year old Andy Lau Tak-Wah had to wake up early at 3 am to make eight trips everyday to fetch water for his family. It was not until 1980 that Andy sign up for TVB's 10th Acting Academy and became an actor. Andy Lau Tak-Wah also started his singing career in 1985.


Acting Career
Andy Lau began his acting career after graduating from Ho Lap College by siging up with the Hong Kong broadcasting channel, TVB. His first role for TVB was in 'The Emissary' in 1982 gained him instant success and popularity. During this decade, Andy Lau played the lead role in many of the TVB series thus being named one of "TVB's Five Tigers" along with Tony Leung, Michael Miu, Felix Wong, and Kent Tong. In the late 80s, Andy left TVB and began a starring in films rather than dramas. With well known successful films such as "As Tears Go By" and "A Moment Of Romance", Andy became one of Hong Kong's most bankable stars. He won many awards in his acting career and even beat Jackie Chan in the "No. 1 Box Office Actor" in 2005.


Music Career
In 1985, Andy was released his first album in Hong Kong that year, was called "只知道此刻愛你" (Only Know that at this Moment I Love You) however this album was not a big hit. Despite having a voice not traditionally associated with popular music, Andy Lau's hard work and perseverance resulted in him being one of the most successful Chinese music celebrities. His singing career reached stellar status in 1990 with the release of the album entitled 可不可以 "Would It Be Possible?", and his subsequent releases only solidified his status as a marketable singer. Many of his songs quickly topped the music charts, not only in Hong Kong, but also in Taiwan, Mainland China, and in many different parts of Asia. He even entered the Guiness World Record for "Most Awards Won by a Canto-Pop Male Artist".
