In the future, the most popular game in the world is Angelic Layer. Contestants must raise and train their own 'Angels' (or fighting dolls) to compete in tournaments. Enter Misaki Suzuhara, sixth grade Angelic Layer prodigy. With her speed-type angel, Hikaru, many people think Misaki stands a chance at winning the championship. She'll have a lot of help along the way, but the road to victory will be not be an easy route, especially for someone as young as Misaki.

Angelic Layer is very well written. It makes people want to spread their imagination.Angelic Layer is very inspiring and very realistic. This anime can become real life and its like everyone can have their own battle doll. Its very exciting because all of this is happening to a middle school girl.I feel like anyone can make this anime real and maybe who ever made this anime believed in robotics can advance.Angelic Layer is an anime i suggest people should watch.Well this anime is about a girl named Misaki. She came to Tokyo and now she lives her aunt and she came there because she wanted to see her mother. Her mother worked for Angelic Layer. Misaki became inspired to play angelic layer by watching it on a big screen T.V. in Center Tokyo. So a mysterious man named Icchan taught her how to play angelic layer.Misaki will meet many new people. So i recommend this anime for anyone and everyone

Angelic layer is a great anime that I really liked....There was a girl named Misaki. She was riding a train to Tokyo to live with her aunt, a famous announcer/actress, since her grandmother was tired. Misaki didn't see her mother in a long time, so she misses her a lot. Fortunately, her mother also lives in Tokyo, too. After she finds a battle of Angelic Layer on the TV on top of a building, she gets interested in it. She started playing Angelic Layer after a man came up to her and made her get involved into it. After a long time, she finds out that the woman who was on TV, which Misaki admired, was her mother. Long time passed, and they finally had a match of Angelic Layer and Misaki wins. Short after, Misaki becomes famous in Angelic Layer and her aunt, mom, and herself live together in her aunt's house.

Abstract:
This old gem was released back in 2001. Enjoyable in short doses, it's a story about a girl and her toy doll. This is no ordinary doll though, via advance technology this doll is part of this super Tokyo sensation game called Angelic Layer. Think of Battle Bots in an anime, but with dolls. Each episode shows her growth in battle experience as she climbs the rank in the Angelic Layer game tournament.

Pros - Flashy battles which is entertaining to watch, as well as a casual anime that people can jump into.
Cons - Repetitive as each battle outcome and solution is the same. You'll catch onto this trend after watching a few battles.

Below is the reason I gave this a really low score of 3 and below,

Angelic Layer review

Misaki is a thirteen year old girl who has come to Tokyo to live with her aunt. As soon as she arrives, she witnesses a fight between a beautiful angelic doll and a massive dark opponent. Inspired by the smaller doll's victory, Misaki discovers that both dolls are part of a sport called Angelic Layer and resolves to take it up herself. Aided by a mysterious (and extremely peculiar) man who calls himself Icchan, Misaki creates her own Angel, which she calls Hikaru. From here she joins the Angelic Layer League as she strives to become a champion with Hikaru.

This anime is quite a bit girly but it's still good. The characters are interesting and their is some romance but not that much. The dolls that fight are amazing and I really want one, So I hope they make them real. There is also mother-daughter drama and a creepy geeky guy. But everybody is good hearted and has a warm ending. I recommend and the fact that their are only 26 episodes it doesn't take that much of your life to watch them, unlike naruto.

I find "Kidou Tenshi Angelic Layer" (Mobile Angel Angelic Layer) to be one CLAMP's better animes. Also,if you read the manga closely, you will find that it has a slight tie-in with "Chobits" as well.CLAMP loves doing that sort of thing.

Angelic Layer is your typical CLAMP anime/manga. It's well worth watching, don't get me wrong, it's just predictable. Because it's CLAMP though the characters are endearing and the story line will keep you watching even though you know whats going to happen already. I recommend this if you are in the mood for a good shojo.

I personally thought the manga was excellent. The day I read the series I got from the library, is the day I ordered them off of Amazon. The transition from manga to anime was well thought out and seemingly better than the manga, storywise. I believed sometimes the style of the characters was better in the manga because they were a bit more detailed. There music sometimes didn't make as much sense but overall, it was completely relevant to the situation. The battle scenes were very well illustrated in the anime and the battle sounds were top-notch. I'd recommend this series to anyone.
