Ayanami is a very good character in the story giving it a twist. With his mischievous traps to try and get Teito, it leads Teito to learn how to fight and remember more of his past. Ayanami is cunning, very intelligent and powerful. He doesn't show much emotion, but you can tell he cares for his men and refuses to put them in danger. He is polite and is very serious in his place in the Empire.
