Ayashi no Ceres presents a beautiful love story, which intertwined with great action and characters makes for a sad, yet heartwarming story that can grip your heart. A very original plot line, immersing a young woman on her 16th birthday, into a world of danger and constant threat while those who are around her and those who she loves are hurt. With love triangles that are sometimes heart wrenching and at other times very sweet. And with a very important message which you will be blatantly told if you haven't already figured it out by the end of the series.

Characters that are simply amazing, follow them all through their pain and trials that they have to overcome. All are excellently portrayed and their feelings really reach you. The romance between some of the characters is just grand, it really gives and shows you the true feeling of love.

For an anime that was released in 2000 the art is simply amazing. The plot line is so intricate and very original. The romance between various characters that really portray their anguish, sadness, happiness, confusion, and love. An amazing soundtrack that completely fits the mood and just makes you want to listen to the songs over and over again. I have to say, this is one of the best romance anime's out there.

A New Favorite, and the Best Creation of Watase Yuu

The plot was phenomenal and not what I was expecting after having seen Fushigi Yuugi. The violence, blood, and betrayal was so much darker than Fushigi Yuugi. I am truly impressed that she did 180 in her plot formations when developing this series right after Fushigi Yuugi. The characters were for the most part pretty likable where as I didn't like Miaka much in Fushigi Yuugi. As usual the character design was beautiful by Watase-sama. I found the series through a recommendation by hiddenanime, though I believe I had heard of it in passing at some point, "ceres" and "twins/siblings" at least. So initially I had no idea it was Yuu Watase until the opening credits rolled lol. I was like "ohh that's why it's so pretty and the character design looks familiar...I also recognized that it looks a bit like Absolute Boyfriend which I read a preview of (and forgot was by Watase-sama)....XD." If i recall when I watched Fushigi Yuugi it made my heart ache at the end, and this series caused it to ache even more so. Especially the bittersweet ending.

********SPOILER**********

She gets Touya only for a little while *sniffs* and Touya basically asked Yuuhi to take care of her when the time comes. It settles the love triangle, but still makes me kind of sad because Touya is literally made for her. *bawls* The brother dying I kind of saw coming, so I wasn't as upset about that.

********END SPOILER**********

Anyway.... loved the plot, characters, character design, music, and love story. Was only kind of sad about the one thing but overall though I was satisfied. =)

my absolute favorite of all time!

I really love this series! It is one of Yuu Watase's best works yet, way better than Fushigi yuugi in my opinion. It's about aya , a girl who turns 16 on her birthday, who learns that she is a reincarnation of an angel, a celestial angel named Ceres. She also learns that her brother is ceres reincarnated lover from the past, who wants to keep her once again.

Once more, her family wants her dead due to her being a celestial angel. So she runs away from home and gets saved by a man named Fuyi, who slowly starts to fall in love with her, and a man named Toya, who she's been in love with since ages.

It's a really good series and it's one of my absolute favorites along with sailor moon and nadia: secret of blue water. You will love this series, especially if you love yuu watase and love absolute boyfriend and fushigi yuugi. A must watched and most loved anime of all time!
