Formed in 1997, Doping Panda was originally known as Psychedelic Gorilla as a four-member band, but after the fourth member's departure, it was changed to Doping Panda.
Doping Panda did many Disney covers including 'Go the Distance' for 'Dive into Disney' and 'Under the Sea' for 'Mosh Pit on Disney'. They've also made contributions to a number of compilation albums between 2000 and 2006.
Although Doping Panda has already made their debut with album 'Performation' (2000), 'We in Music' (2002) and mini album 'PINK PaNK' (2002), they made their official debut with two mini albums, 'High Fidelity' (a.k.a. 'Hi-Fi') and 'High Pressure' in 2005. Their debut major album, 'Dandyism' was released in 2006.
After winning a cult following in the J-rock scene, the band went on a series of tours throughout Japan during the release of their 2006 album 'Dandyism' and hit singles, 'Can't Stop Me' and 'Miracle' (which is used in tribute soundtrack for 'Death Note: the Last Name').
Doping Panda released their debut DVD, 'Live-ism' in 2006 and that year, they took part in Rock in Japan Festival.
