D.Gray-man is, without a doubt, a stroke of genius. Its primary asset is its storyline, which sets the stage for just about anything to happen. It's essentially about certain individuals with their own special powers running around and releasing the souls of the deceased who have become large, grotesque monsters. Sounds like Bleach, right? WRONG! While at first glance it may seem like Bleach, anyone who has watched the series would probably not even notice. Every episode is important to the series in some way (that's right, NO FILLERS!). There is also ample screentime for the characters in the series (so no one feels left out). I could only identify two significant problems with this anime. The first is the inconsistency between the characters' languages and the timeframe of the anime.

All the characters, most of which are not from Japan, fluently speak Japanese despite the fact that the series is set at the end of the nineteenth century when Japan was still isolated from the rest of the world.
Mind explaining that? My other problem is D.Gray-man's ending.

Or should I say, lack of an ending? It really left me asking for more.
The way the anime went allows people to become interested enough to go out and buy the manga, but leaves the anime viewers to lie and rot. Yet, I have still given this anime a good rating with what it has given me. I enjoyed this anime A LOT. I highly recommend it.
