Dennis Oh, Dennis Joseph O'Neil, 데니스 오 (born August 29, 1981 in the United States of America) is an American or South Korean actor. He was born to a Korean mother and a former American GI father. He is known in South Korea as Dennis Oh.
Dennis started modeling at the age of 16 as he applied for a model contest he had heard from the radio by chance while working out in his basement. He had majored in illustration at first at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), but later changed it to photography thinking he needed to learn it properly while modeling through Asian countries such as Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan. He also considers to become a professional photographer when he retires from the entertainment industry.
He began his career in South Korean entertainment industry by modeling in a couple of TV commercials, and then was cast to 'Sweet Spy' by the producer Ko Dongsun in 2005. In a later interview, Mr. Ko said he cast Dennis because of the recommendation of his wife who saw the cellphone commercial of Dennis on TV. In fact, this commercial was a quite of an issue due to its creative concept of adpoting Vitruvian Man of Leonardo da Vinch. Owing to this commercial, Dennis got the nicknames of "Living David" or "Walking Statue".
In the drama 'Sweet Spy' (2005), he appears as a mysterious spy 'Han Yoo-il' who falls in love with an ordinary female police officer. As he assimilated the homme-fatal character so superbly, he created an unprecedented sensation in the cyber space that a portal website was once stuck by too much traffic. As the fruit of his labor in 'Sweet Spy', Dennis jumped to stardom in Korea.
The music video of 'Barammanbaramman' (2006) by Kim Jong-gook and SG Wanna Be in which he performed with Han Ga-in, made a big hit as well. Dennis acted a gigolo who realized what a real love is by a pure girl, who is actually a pickpocket.
