Dream High tells the story of six students at Kirin Art High School who work to achieve their dreams of becoming music stars in the Korean music industry. Go Hye Mi is a student who had majored in classical music but has to give up her dream by entering Kirin Art High School to pay off her father's debt. However, she needs to get two other students to also come to the school in order for her to enroll in the school conditionally. These two students are Song Sam Dong, who lives in the countryside, and Jin Guk, whom she accidentally meets while trying to escape from a loan shark. Yoon Baek Hee, formerly Hyemi's sidekick, becomes her rival in school because Hye Mi betrays her during an audition to enter the school.
In Season Two, Kirin Arts High School has fallen from its top arts academy status into dire financial straits and is in danger of closing. This season follows a new group of students after the previous group graduated.
The school is taken over by OZ Entertainment Agency, who transfers their own idol stars over to the school to avoid the law that prohibits underage entertainers from performing after 10pm. Competition arises between the troubled students of Kirin and the newly transferred idols from OZ.

I absolutely loved this kdrama. It was very beautiful and very inspiring. Also, the characters were all loveable, and it wasn't completely predictable, and never boring! I can not wait until season 2 comes out and is subbed somewhere, I wish that Crunchyroll would get its hands on this kdrama one day, it's completely worth it! Also, the music was very beautiful, especially the "Dream High" OST song, it's very catchy. (It's also on iTunes!) Anyways, if you doubted watching this and haven't seen it yet, try to find a way to see it, it's definitely worth your time!

Suzy as Go Hye Mi
Go Hye Mi is the main character of this drama. Originally from a wealthy family, after her mother's death, her father's business failed and their family fell into debt and his father went to other countries. She is pursued by debt collector Ma Doo Shik and his men for much of the beginning of the drama.
Kim Soo-Hyun as Song Sam Dong
Song Sam Dong is a naive country boy who follows Hye Mi to Seoul after falling in love with her. He has an exceptional innate musical aptitude without any formal training. Hye Mi gives him a make over where he transforms into a "hottie" and he gets a haircut that resembles Jin Guk's.
Taecyeon as Hyun Si Hyuk (Jin Guk)

He sings a ballad as his showcase song called "My Valentine". He is in a love triangle with Go Hye Mi and Yoon Baek Hee. After performing with Baek Hee at the music showcase, he debuts with one of Korea's top entertainment agencies as a member of a group called "Group K".
Ham Eun Jung as Yoon Baek Hee
Baek Hee is Hye Mi's best friend and sidekick at their old school, but she is betrayed by Hye Mi during the Kirin School audition. She is devastated by the betrayal and becomes Hye Mi's biggest rival. She is surprised and confused when she discovers that Hye Mi is apologetic for her actions and wants to be friends again. She has a crush on Jin Guk and is jealous of Hye Mi, who holds his attentions.
IU as Kim Pil Suk
Kim Pil Suk first appears as a girl wearing a sushi mascot costume during the auditions. She is a girl with a beautiful voice and perfect pitch but is overweight. She has a major crush on Jason, and leaves a lollipop on his locker every day.

I was looking forward to Dream High since the storyline was inspirational. Students together looking for a dream, going through hard times, I liked that. I suppose if it was a fantasy it would be alright, but if it was suppose to be inspirational, this wasn't it. The teachers were overly concerned about the students that wasn't too possible and Hye Mi wore too nice clothes if she was bankrupted. And also, I was hoping for more detail in their classes, like what inspired them, what they learned, and showed it through there. I didn't like how the director made them SAY they were inspired and changed throughout the story, because it was suppose to be shown through the story. If they had to say it, the director didn't put enough effort in. Also, the characters were not well developed. Sam Dong was one of the best developed characters, but Hye Mi's character was just REALLY bad. I don't know whether it was because the actress was just bad or what. Although hateful at the beginning she's suppose to go through change. But all I really saw was she was bad one minute and the next she was good. Her character wasn't fully developed and was rushed. Same with her rival, Baek Hee. Baek Hee was a bit better, but her character isn't stable. It was just kinda there....Jason's character was confusing, although the actor portrayal was decent. Jason's background wasn't even fully explained. Pil Sook's character was pretty well developed and portrayed. Although the idols sang really well in this drama, I felt the music director was pretty bad. Especially when IU meets Wooyoung in the drama, they just play random parts of IU's and Wooyoung's actual songs like "Good Day" and "I'll be back". Nothing wrong with that but it wasn't the right moment to play their songs. It was random and the song just kinda floated there. I was happy that they played those songs, but it was so random I almost hated it. Moreover, I felt like it was because they were idols, the director/script was on a tight budget especially when you could literally SEE their breaths when they say their lines. THAT'S how COLD it is. Dream High was an overall letdown, but I felt the acting throughout the drama was a step ahead for these idols. I hope they get a better production team now that they showed more promise.

I watched the whole drama with a bubbly feeling inside and a smile on my face. It was so good! I really liked that it focused so much on teenagers dreams and hopes, and that it was dancing and singing that was these dreams. The soundtrack was great and it was actually the music that attracted me from the start. It was by episode 3 I started to love the story and characters and got totally addicted to it!
I can recommend this drama to everyone! It's one of my favorites!
