This is one of the funniest shows I have seen. It’s not for everyone though; it has a lot of sexual innuendos and rather poor black comedy. I have to say that the show is better then the manga, fitting much better together with the art style and the action. I don’t get much of the actual meaning for the show, I guess it could be something about letting people think for you but I really don’t know how much you want to put into that.

The story line can be a bit hard to follow at first, but after a few times of reviewing it it'll turn out to be a really good anime! Haruko is hilarious~. Animation is good, characters in general are hilarious; The music is amazing! The best in my opinion, but overall it's a 3.5. Still good, though! One of my favorites.

Many people didn't enjoy FLCL due to its short episode count and confusing storyline, but Gainax knows what people want and makes them work for it. For this reason, the anime comes fast-paced and makes you constantly think, as it offers what every anime viewer wants, from the enthusiastic to the shoddy. FLCL will leave you wanting more, like any good show would, but will also leave you dumbfounded until you come to the realization of what REALLY happened in the last episode. Recommended to anyone who wants action, comedy, and/or romance.

Although this series is only six episodes, its the best I've ever seen. The plot is very confusing the first time around, but if you watch it twice, it makes more sense and you will realize its brilliance. It perfectly and symbolically depicts teen angst, conflict, love, and things of this nature.....The music only adds another dimension to the episodes. The music is generally soft rock that chimes in or becomes louder during a meaningful dialouge, adding a nice dramatic effect. Haruko is one of the most perfectly developed characters in anime. In only six episodes, you fall in love with her quirkiness and relatability; despite her being an alien. The most impressive feat of this anime is its ability to completely develop Freytag's pyramid in less than 180 minutes. That is, the plot is perfectly developed and the characters are given unique personalities. The only criticism of this series is the animation. The animation is a bit inconsistent and sometimes creates confusion as to whether some things are metaphoric or literal...if you catch my drift. However, at a few occasions, the scene is enhanced with this type of animation. But who could forget the hilarious manga scenes?
In summary, this anime is a must-see for any anime addict or someone just looking the nostalgia of childhood. If you are the type of person who is willing to be analytical in order to understand the plot, this anime is FOR YOU!!!!

What ca i say about Flcl...well this is my first review and i wanted to do it on a great anime and i had remembered watching this on Adult swim late at night on CartoonNetwork. The anime has great picture almost made you think you were watching a movie, the story is five -star its not like Pokemon in which they have a repetitive plot every episode. Although some can argue about the things that keep coming out of Naotas head but that is besides the point. The characters all have their own unique personality and truthfully i don't think my review will help you understand how great this anime really is, so you should just watch it yourself. I don't think you can watch it here on CR, but if you like i could give you a direct link that will lead you to watch all the episodes...its a really good link i swear, anyways here it is

i hope you enjoy it as i did it wont take very long to watch only 6 episodes, yea i talk to much whatever enjoy

Naota's life is confined to going to school and living with his father and grandfather. The usually boring life in Mabase is rudely interrupted by the arrival of Haruko Haruhara, who bursts on the scene by running Naota over with her Vespa scooter and hitting him on the head with a blue vintage Rickenbacker 4001 right-handed reverse strung electric bass guitar.[1][2] Later, Naota is shocked to find Haruko working in his house as a live-in maid.
Haruko's search for the alien being, Atomsk, puts her at odds with Medical Meccanica, the monolithic industrial corporation. At the same time, Naota is being watched by Commander Amarao. The Commander believes Haruko is in love with Atomsk and that Medical Meccanica is out to conquer the galaxy. The combination of circumstances get Naota involved in a three-way battle between Haruko, Amarao and Medical Meccanica.
Naota Nandaba is the protagonist of the series, obsessed with appearing mature and nonchalant. He idolizes his older brother Tasuku, who represents for Naota what it means to be an "adult".
Haruko Haruhara is Mabase's newest resident, an extraterrestrial investigator for the Galactic Space Police Brotherhood. She becomes the Nandaba household maid while working to find Atomsk, the most powerful space pirate in the galaxy. She uses her bass guitar[1] to create an N.O. portal in Naota's head, through which various objects periodically appear, including Medical Mechanica robots and Amarao, among others. Amarao states in episode 4 that Haruko's real name is "Raharu".
Canti is the first robot to emerge from Naota's head. It was manufactured by Medical Mechanica, and had been used by them to capture Atomsk. It is later revealed that Atomsk can manifest through Canti, with Naota being the catalyst.
Mamimi Samejima is a high school truant, and Tasuku's ex-girlfriend. She is lonely and depressed, adopting several pets and naming them all "Takkun" as a replacement for Naota's brother, and might be a pyromaniac. She also thinks of Naota as a replacement for Tasuku, but later grows disinterested when Naota exhibits independence.
Eri Ninamori is the daughter of the mayor of Mabase and the president of Naota's sixth grade class. Ninamori is a complex character -- like Naota she is obsessed with acting grown-up, but she often loses her composure when angry or excited. Ninamori hides her frustration with her father's sex scandal, and rigs an election so that she and Naota can get the lead roles in a school play.
Nandaba Kamon a would-be editor, is Naota's father. Unlike his son, he is clearly outgoing and does what he pleases. Naota often reprimands his father for not acting like an adult.
Nandaba Shigekuni Naota's grandfather, a retired baker. He doesn't like Mamimi.
Commander Amarao is a special agent of the Bureau of Interstellar Immigration. He apparently has some past with Haruko and claims to know who or what she really is. Amarao's childhood also seems to mirror Naota's. Amarao's eyebrows have unusual properties.
Kitsurubami is an agent of Commander Amarao, a healthy young woman who worries about her boss's eyebrows. She is generally repulsed by him, especially by his occasional advances toward her.
Tasuku Nandaba lives in the United States and plays minor-league baseball -- he is never shown in the anime, except in a flashback (only his silhouette is shown) and in a photo of Tasuku and his "American girlfriend'

Imagine if you suddenly grew a horn on your forehead. But it's not really a horn, it's the portal to the belly of a robot cat. Doesn't make a lot of sense to you? Well that's what FLCL is all about, making barely any sense, in the coolest way possible.
Naota is a young boy living in a small town, who spends his days hanging around with his older brothers clingy ex-girlfriend. That is until some crazy girl riding a scooter appears and smacks him in the forehead with a guitar.
When Naoto regains consciousness he returns home to find the crazy scooter girl and some weird robot with a tv for a head working as maids in his house. Naoto has barely anytime to take this all in before a giant robot hand emerges from the guitar wound on his forehead. Before any more of the hand makes it through the TV headed robot shows up, tears it off at the root and then systematically beats it into a pulp. As the story progresses more of the robot makes it through. Naoto and crew are forced to deal with them, albeit, not in the usual battle-manga type way.
Obviously a strange story needs a strange art style and Hajime Ueda offers just that. Unlike any other manga, the art is very rough, but in a stylish way. Featuring heavy sketching, odd angles and demented characters. Even if the story doesn't particularly speak to you, it's worth a read just for a look at the unique and amazing art. There's some violence and sexual themes, but it's kept to a minimum and would be enjoyable for the usual 13+ manga audience.
FLCL has a crazy story, crazy characters, crazy art, generally a crazy manga. You'll either love it or hate it, but if you hate it, one day a crazy girl on a scooter may come and smack you in the forehead with a guitar. You've been forewarned.
