Gomattou (ごまっとう, Gomattou) was formed in 2002 as an one-off project to realise the idea of founding an R&B-style dance group featuring three Hello! Project graduates and soloists: Maki Goto, Aya Matsuura and Miki Fujimoto.
In November 2002, Gomattou released their debut single, 'Shall We Love?'
After Gomattou disbanded in 2003, all three Gomattou members did their own solo versions of 'Shall We Love?' with different arrangements and musical styles.
Goto and Matsuura then worked with Natsumi Abe in their one-off unit 'Nochiura Natsumi', which later morphed into 'DEF.DIVA' with the addition of Rika Ishikawa from v-u-den.
Meanwhile Fujimoto joined 'Morning Musume' (Goto's former band) and also became a supplementary member of 'Country Musume'.
In September, 2006, Fujimoto and Matsuura came together to form a new duo, GAM, which is nicknamed 'Gomattou: Reborn'.
