Great Teacher Onizuka is easily one of my favorite animes, especially one of my favorite comedies. There is laughter in abundance with this series. Most of the laughter is ridiculous, but very well rendered. The story follows a young and charming man who attempts being a teacher to make a difference. He is rather unconventional when you think in terms of a teacher. I will not give spoilers, so no worries there folks. The music was pretty good. My favorite song is Driver's High, which is the opening song for the first season of the show. I really enjoyed a lot of the instrumental music. It tended to have a rockish theme to most of it, which made it rather upbeat. The character development was very well written. Onizuka's development was very well done. My favorite character development was with some of the students. The episodes show us some of their experiences and how the particular experience affected the kids, which I thought was superb. Especially through animation. The animation itself is pretty. It isn't overly cartoony, but it isn't an elegant masterpiece. I believe the animation fits the comedic aspects of the show very well. If you like laughing and some good whole-hearted, coming-of-age stuff, you will like this show. It definitely won't be a waste of your time.

This is the simplest, easiest way to review this anime without giving even the tiniest detail.
Amazing.
You needn't say anything else. The only downfall about this series is that it doesn't have a second season.
If you find yourself having some free time, or you do not know what to watch, just try a few episodes of GTO. You will end up like me. Indifferent at first, expecting it to be bad...then BOOM it punches your f*king face with some kind of awesomeness that even God can't fathom! Then it rips your cranium clean off your head and takes a dump of pure, undiluted epicness into your very being! Yeah. I know. It's like cocaine slept with a hallucinogen and then had intercourse with Baby Jesus. Watch-This-Series-Right-Now.

GTO: The Anime Classic!

Ever thought of your teachers as strange? then you, most probably, never heard of Eikichi Onizuka. This ex-motorcycle gang leader who dreams to be a school teacher will blow your mind and leave you laughing your ass off to pure comedic genius! The series is full of awkward situations that even you will have difficulty figuring out how this self proclaimed "Great Teacher" can wiggle his way out of the mess. Although at later episodes you'll have that feeling that all will turn out fine, the method that Onizuka uses to fix the mess will still keep you glued to your seat just to see how it will turn out for him. Full of lessons and good intentions, Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO) is a marvelous way to teach them kids the value of friendship, loyalty, trust and hope.

To sum it up, GTO is a great tv series that deserves to be on your to-watch-list. It's small amount of "Ecchi" is just enough for it not to be tagged as unfit for kids. Personally, I like GTO for everything it's worth and its replay value is way up there to be considered in itself as a classic. So whether you're a fan of the manga, the TV show, or just interested in an enjoyable series, Great Teacher Onizuka is something you won't want to pass up.
