Griffith (グリフィス) is a young man of common birth but uncommon skill in war and charisma. As a boy he dreamed of one day being able to transcend the boundaries of social status and becoming the leader of his own country. To this end he created the famed mercenary group the Band of the Hawk. He sometimes possesses a childlike demeanor and is able to speak openly about high ideals and morals most men would dismiss or not fully grasp. However this facade hides a calculating mind capable of sizing up any situation in an instant and being more ruthless than any noble.

Despite being surrounded by admirers and the Hawks at all times Griffith is essentially a loner. The one notable exception is Guts who becomes not only his friend but his most trusted confidant and accomplice. Griffith is also the owner of the mysterious Crimson Behelit. He claims it was a gift from an old fortune teller woman that called it "The Egg of the King".

At the conclusion of events in Berserk Griffith becomes Femto the final member of God Hand.
