Though this does not live up to the UC standards, EVERY Gundam fan should give this a shot. It is not all a Gundam 0079 rip off as it gives a fresh story of angst, war and tragedies. I will talk about the pros and cons.

Positive marks.
-Awesome Characters (But I hate Flay!)
-Good mobile suits.
-Edgy fights.
-The story is decent but I gave it a 4 for giving a taste of 3 sided wars.
-The couples that ended up where good. (KIRAXLACUS FTW!)

Negative marks
-Flashbacks
-Flay Allster
-Kira is too soft.

Storyline: Changing the original Gundam with elements of angst but makes it emo.
Music: Ipod worthy.
Characters: Good and likeable main characters. Flay was bad.
Animation: Impressive for this gen.

Conclusion: SEED is a worthy Gundam Series but I don't recommend the sequel since the sequel is bad.

Gundam Seed is great series I recommend it to everybody. The Story is excellent. The music is great. The animation is fantastic. The thing I hate about Gundam Seed is it characters. The character looks awful I feel like there something missing every time i look at the characters. I also feel like the character designer really didn't put to much effort in the characters. But some parts the characters look better or look worst. You'll will probably forget the that the characters look cra** if just you just keep watching Gundam Seed because of Gundam fighting and drama. Ps this review is for Gundam Seed not Gundam Seed Destiny

Gundam Seed worth watching?

Storyline:
Gundam Seed storyline takes Original Gundam 0079 story and brings it to a new direction. The storyine was very solid. The story between naturals and coordinators was new in the gundam series. The pacing was well and the story keeps you drawn.
Music:
One of the best musics from the gundam series. TM revolution performs and so does Rie Tanaka as Lacus clyne.
Characters:
The character Kira Yamato is put in a situtation where he has to choose between his own kind or fight for the earth alliance; throughout the story he develop from someone who just wants to protect his crewmember into someone more. Of course Kira goes through everyday emotions making him human.
Animation:
The animation was clearly presented, the battles are at much faster pace than other gundam series, and it has one of the best fights.

Overall:
4.5/5
Not everything is perfect. But def a anime you should check out.

Gundam Seed is a really great mecha anime, of course I don't think it succeeds ANY of the other Gundam series. It is my favorite out of them, but certainly not the best. The story is great, however the events sometimes don't make alot of sense. They also happen so slowly till the storyline moves kind of sluggishly. The music is EXCELLENT. Gundam Seed by far has the best music in any anime I've ever watched, I listen to the soundtracks over and over on my iPod. The music is just that great. The characters didn't show alot of diversity. The only real characters with real personalities were probably Flay Alster and Meer Campbell, the main was alright, but most of the characters were alike when it came to their thoughts and they shared too many similar character traits. The animation was good, but the fighting scenes reused many clips. I don't know how many times it takes people to see the same gundam getting blown up, and the same one flying away before they realize that they've seen that clip before. 4/5. Love.

Positives:
* Character designs were solid.
* It's nice to look forward to a sequel once you're done watching SEED. Continuity is a plus.
* Suit designs were cool.
* The basic story and plot developments were good.
* Most of the themes were great, especially the first couple OPs.

Negatives:
* The last episode, specifically the very end, was disappointing. You'll need to watch the 5 minute After Phase: In the Valley of Stars after finishing SEED.
* The show was pretty boring up until episode 25.
* Typical megalomaniac villain at the end.
* Flay Ulster for most of the story.

Overall:
While I have a lot of issues with SEED, I still feel that its worthy of the Gundam name. Where some people might ding a series for taking too many liberties with the tried-and-true, I think SEED didn't do enough to differentiate itself from what's been done before. Overall, the strength of the characters, the solid soundtrack, and the Gundam designs make this show worth a watch.

Review

The Animation of this anime is really good compared to the older series of mech animes, many other types of anime and anime of it's time, it fully captures the emotions and actions of each and every character, few people say some characters emotions and actions are too exaggerated but that's because the animation of this anime is so good and compatible with this anime it brings the fullest to the anime. It shows the detail in the settings of each location, giving you a feel of each country and nations; developments, culture, differences and similarities. The animation also influences the mobile units showing their prowess and details on stand by and in action.

The Characters of this anime have all their own personal attraction, some less then others, few not at all. Some characters have similar traits to the others from the older series, showing they share some of the same thoughts and beliefs of the war as each other. Even so they have their own strengths which separate them from the older series and other anime. Their resolves in war; similar to other characters yet they place themselves on different sides of the battlefield. The characters in this anime is one of the reasons why this anime is expressed so well from people who knew nothing about war to soldiers in arms experienced in battle, their different views and opinions in how life and war should be. It express their problems in life as well as how they were raised or told or order to do or follow and then their ability to figure things out themselves to find what they are truly after and hoping for in their lives and others in hard times of their lives and the world. The characters in this anime all mature greatly compared to the beginning realizing; "What Kind Of Future The Believe In ?" and "Who They Should Really Be Fighting For ?". They think deeper into the meaning of war and human actions and on their own looking for an answer to; "What They Truly Want ?" .

The Music in this anime, I considered one of the best overall, every SINGLE song from this anime captures every emotion of the moment and every emotion a human can express, it truly does. Like if it's a sad time or moment, it's truly a sad song that plays at that important moment expressing the characters, settings and mood to the fullest, when it's a time of forgiveness, the song truly brings out the emotions of forgiveness throughout. The music of this anime is 100%. Nothing Left out, It can be agreed on by everybody that has seen the whole series.

The Storyline is a classic story similar to the older Gundams. That's why it is an amazing story even though the basic of it similar, the change and process of the story is completely different because the difference in characters, technology and settings. The storyline shows many trails of failure for the characters, not like some animes that make the main characters just win straight through the whole series or them beginning strong through out, winning and winning. It shows evolution throughout the storyline and progress that explain the faults in all the characters and nations, concentrating on not only their strength but considering their thoughts and emotions and others around them. They're similarities and their beliefs. It goes way deeper in too war then the battles then any other anime. What people can do for each other without fighting or what can people do who don't have the strength to fight. It finds alternative methods and ways to fight a war. They learn it through their experiences. The story to me is what most importantly changes the characters and what makes it one of the greatest anime and different compared to all other anime.

Overall

This anime is a 5/5 because of all the reasons supported above and because of it's individuality, to say true to it's plot and characters , the anime has amazing characters to love and hate, the animation is top-notch with clarity and detail, the music is defiantly one of the most powerful music you will listen to in any anime. The storyline shows much importance in the characters and today's issues in the world of; nationality, racism, discrimination and beliefs. This series and other gundam series shouldn't not be COMPARED to, if it's WORST or BETTER based solely on their predecessor or it's successors because they are all completely different and send different messages, their has been a lot of dispute between the older series and the newer ones. My opinions are strictly from what I've see overall in all animes. This anime is a must see and a great part of the Gundam series. It is a soon be classic with other great animes. Truly a master piece and great addition to mech and anime.
