First of all . . . *Clap clap*.
At first, I thought this was going to be some kind of Shojo which involves vampires forcing their thirst away from the ones they loved, but . . . I was way wrong. This whole anime game me another perspective for anime seeking; don't judge the cover of an anime until you have watched it completely. Who else is saying that at the moment . . . But yes, I can honestly say that the characters, story, and animation was amazingly epic! Though, I thought that the music could of been better. Alucard is a great idol main character in the story, especially 'Police Girl'. (Haha!). If anyone were to judge this as the worst anime in history, would someone please hand me a razor blade and a bottle of vinegar because I'm going to F**k up that person's eyes up even more than what they already are. On a Scale from 1 - 10 I give this anime review of 9/10! ;D I also suggest many others this anime for the excitement. Good-days everyone!

Hellsing is a tense anime that shows us final battle between human organization, Hellsing, and all kinds of undead, like zombies. All events occur at the present time and though this series lasts only thirteen episodes, it manages to sum up the history of the organization since the middle ages!
Hellsing is a Holy Order of Protestant Knights, which was originally established by Abraham Van Helsing in order to protect the Queen and the Country (Great Britain) from undead. That's why, Van Helsing had to force Alukard (the most powerful vampire) to sing a contract as soon as he defeated this monster. According to their agreement, Alukard will stay forever as a "weapon" of the organization and only true successors of Van Helsing will be able to use him, as soon as they become the new leaders.
At the present time, the leader of the Order is Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Helsing. However, she has to cope not only with the war against undead, but also with diplomatic problems.
Iscariot (Vatican Section XIII that also fights undead) and Knights of the Round Table (who have to support the organization) eventually turn into her political enemies. In addition, someone very powerful among humans creates a vampire-cheap that turns ordinary people into vampire-like creatures, leaving them human brains and giving strength of the undead.
Since all of these conflicts, especially political ones, are hard to show, Hellsing's plot development is slow and full of tension. As a result, there are few fighting scenes and action, which makes the anime a bit boring.
However, there is a really cool final fight between Alukard and Incognito at the end, which settles all the problems.
The last thing that I wanted to mention about this anime, is that both "good" and "evil" characters in this show are interesting and charismatic; which makes this series even more entertaining.

I love Hellsing! It was dark comedy in my book. It was strange finding out that there was both a OVA and a TV part that went right along side each other. I think I'm liking the OVA better since its closer to the manga and a little more in depth then the other though I like the TV version because of its nicer animation. The question that I have is why they called Dracula Alucard? I mean, in a lot of shows and games I played like castlevania, Alucard is the Son of Dracula. So whats going on?

It could have been much better I think- I enjoyed the story and background though. my only let down was that it was short, I wish it was longer and some things were introduced when it was a bit too late. but nevertheless the story was good, flashbacks and other things....
XD
I would reccomend it, but its not one of my favourites

Hellsing is an organization in England that kills vampires and monsters. Seras Victoria was a policegirl, but becomes a vampire and works for Hellsing. Alucard, son of Dracula is considered "Hellsing's pet" taking orders like a slave. Even though it's a short series it's still packed together with action, adventure, and gore. And in the new series Hellsing Ultimate, Romance. This is one of those few and peculiar stories where the main character is in fact an anti-hero. Alucard is the Hellsing organizations pet vampire. An organization whos sole mission is to deal with other vampires, monsters and 'freaks'. Think they are kind of hypocritical for having a vampire to kill other vampires? The catholic church thinks so too and has a few things to 'say' to Alucard and Hellsing.
Volume one introduces us to Serras Victora, a blonde, large breasted somewhat ditzy police officer who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Alucard ends up granting her eternal life and she joins the Hellsing organization. A side story of the novel is Serras coming to terms with her vampirism, despite her appearance, she isn't over-feminized and remains her own character, unlike a lot of girl characters in manga. There is no fan-service, the story is too dark and serious for that.
The manga contains a good mix of seriousness and comedy, Serras usually providing the later, Alucard is a somewhat serious main character, but it's clear from the beginning that his state of mind is inhuman, as it should be. Alucard is quite insane, as you can imagine someone would be if they never died. He's just looking for some fun, a good fight and a lot of carnage along the way. He's not to be confused with 'A good vampire', he isn't there to save humans, he's there to get rid of the lowly 'scum' giving vampires a bad name.
The art starts off not being exactly great, but it has it's own style and the mangaka seems to quickly get better at it, by the end of the book it's all drawn quite well. Some of the full page cells look amazing. It's a very 'dark' book as you can imagine, it's refreshing to see London as a location as well, rather than Japan again.
Hellsing is one of the best vampire stories ever, it's dark, has alot of action, a crazy anti-hero and an insane anti-villain. The first volume was great and I recommend any male or female of around 15+ to read it.
