Judeau

Judeau (pronounced like the martial art Judo) is a veteran member of the Band of the Hawk as well as the leader of the Hawk's skirmisher group. He quickly latches onto Guts after his initiation into the Hawks and becomes one of his closest friends. His personality is quite mild and friendly and he does not strike a person at first glance as the type of individual who would be attracted to the mercenary lifestyle. In combat however he is deadly accurate with his preferred weapons, a set of throwing knives, which he can be seen sharpening at many points in the Anime. He is also known to make use of a light crossbow and when the going gets tough a pair of long curved daggers. Though it is never completely clear one could infer Judeau has had experience as a thief or similar roguish pastime before joining the Hawks as he repeatedly serves as a forward scout and in other clandestine capacities. He may not be a key part of the planning or strategy for the Band but Judeau is integral to the companies moral and his ability to act with distinction in battle is not in question. As a pastime he enjoys making woodcarvings though it is never clear what he actually does, if anything, with them.
