JUNE was born in Seoul, South Korea, on 2 January 1987. His current name is always fully capitalized and to this date, his real name was never publicised.

During his second year of intermediate school, he began to sing for himself, but after being told by his friends that he was bad at singing, he practiced for two years. During his first year of high school he finally was able to move his friends to tears with his singing, instead of making them want to stab their ears with chopsticks.

At 17, JUNE recorded a cover of Musiq's 'Love' for a demo tape, which somehow reached the ears of famed R&B producer Matsuo "KC" Kiyoshi. He flew to Korea specifically to meet JUNE who impressed him enough to take him under his wings.

To prepare for his debut in Japan, JUNE studied Japanese for a year. At 19, he made his major debut under SONY in November of 2006, wowing many Bleach fans with his debut song, 'Baby, It's You', the ninth ending song for anime series, 'Bleach'.

Many initially and mistakenly thought him a female because of how he used his voice for the opening line in 'Baby, It's You'.
