It's a very interesting anime, starts off quite slow and then builds into this crazy mess.

Basically it's about a boy who comes to another world because he was 'chosen' by a spirit and discovers he is a shard caster.

** Spoiler Alert!!! click to hide or show**

The characters become more developed as time passes and you come to realise that a hell of a lot is going on at once.

the music at some points reminds me of Indian celebration music... when something 'exciting' is happening... but maybe that's just me

It's definitely worth a watch. It's a bit long, and there's some minor character story lines (I'd say about 2-3 episodes worth so no too much)... like the bread bakery one... that was just not needed at all...

Kiba - literally fang, or if divided into Ki-Ba, a spiritual place.

Zed is a boy who is very unhappy with his current situation in life, and longs to be somewhere where he can live more freely. One day he sees a mysterious wind that opens a portal in front of him, deciding that he would takes his chances with it, he jumps into it and disappears. The portal opens once again and a large tornado hits the ground below it, softly carrying zed to the ground. The boy quickly comes to and notices that he is in the middle of a battle between two huge monsters.Zed soon learns that he has been transported to a war torn land called calm, where people known as “Shard Casters” command monsters known as “Spirits”.Zed soon learns that he is also a shard caster, that commands his own spirit but not just any spirit his is one of the six “Key Spirits” Amil Gaoul.Zed begins fighting many battles with the other nations of this new world, and begins to understand just what his destiny may be.

Kiba’s main character is Zed, a 15-year-old boy who lives in a place called “Calm”.Calm is a desolate world where the wind never blows, and where most people wear masks over their mouth and nose.Zed is what you would call a delinquent, always getting himself into trouble with his school or with the authority. The cause of Zeds problems stems from his father being dead and his mother confined to a hospital room. She refuses to speak or even to acknowledge living, even when her son Zed visits.

Noa is also from the world Calm and is Zeds only friend.Noa is a very sickly person, but always see his goals to the end. After zed is transported Noa also finds a portal that transports him to this new war torn world.

Roya is a 16 year old shard caster from the nation of Task but now lives in Tempura. The sage Jiko rescued her from the nation of Task when she was only 6 years old.It was believed she would kill her father when she came of age, so she was given a death sentence at that time.

Jiko is a 76 shard caster, and is one of the 6 sages of Templer. He is a very wise and gentle man, raising Roya from a small child and also giving Zed some much needed advice, as he tends to get himself into trouble alot.

The music in this anime is top notch with the first OP “Sanctuary” being sung by Tamaki Nami, and the second OP “Hakanaku Tsuyoku” being sung by Younha. The drawing style in this anime is close to that of such anime as zoids.

Overall i would rate this anime a 7.5 in the Shounen genre. It is 51 episodes of fighting and dying goodness, and the replay value is very good as i have watched it 3 times.

You may have heard there is a card game made from this anime, as it is true, but if you are thinking this is just another one of those ” To sell a card” animes for kiddies you would be sadly mistaken. Director Hiroshi Kamishina stated that the show “absolutely will not have any plot elements that carry favor to children”.The producers of the show stated Kiba will not be the type of show to put “human drama” on the back burner while concentrating on promotional tie-ins.

So if your looking for loads of action and drama with just a hint of comedy i recommend this anime to you, you will love it.

the storyline was great the animation was not too bad i like the powers the persons had with the spirits and all i just hate the zed's best friend turned against and when he became good again he was crippled i also hated the fact that the old man had to die in the end he was strong but its an anime worth watching
