Kazunari Ninomiya (二宮和也, Ninomiya Kazunari?, born June 17, 1983) is a member of Arashi (together with Masaki Aiba, Satoshi Ohno, Sho Sakurai and Jun Matsumoto) a Japanese boy band formed in 1999, under the management of Johnny & Associates. He joined Johnny & Associates at the age of 13 and constantly works as not only an Arashi member but also as an actor. He is the first member of the group to debut in a Hollywood motion picture.
Ninomiya joined Johnny & Associates in June 1996 and was a member of temporary units such as MAIN (which consisted of fellow Arashi members Jun Matsumoto & Masaki Aiba and current Johnny's Jr, Toma Ikuta) and B.A.D. before the formation of Arashi.
Before being a member of Arashi, Ninomiya began his career in television dramas. While touring and performing with the group, he worked on his craft as an actor in television, commercials and on the stage. He gradually moved up from supporting roles to leading roles over the years. He headlined dramas such as Haikei, Chichiue-sama, Yamada Taro Monogatari and many more works. In 2002, he made his motion picture debut in PIKA☆NCHI LIFE IS HARD Dakedo HAPPY, with the other four members of the group.
In 2006, he made his Hollywood debut by playing Saigo in Clint Eastwood's Oscar-nominated Letters from Iwo Jima. His performance was singled out and praised by RogerEbert.com editor, Jim Emerson, as 'thoroughly winning'[1]. He also played the voice for the character Kuro in the animated film Tekkon Kinkreet which was directed by Michael Arias[2].
Ninomiya has his own radio show called Bay Storm since October 4, 2002. The show is currently airing every Sunday on Japan's BayFM, in which he often plays his own renditions of Arashi's songs as well as other singers' songs.
