To me at least.
Storyline
The summary that's given makes this anime sound fairly typical to some extent, but the story itself is well done. It is episodic in the first half, but it gradually begins to keep your attention throughout to the end.
Music
The soundtrack, while fitting, is very subtle and is not as memorable as one would hope. The most of the background music is pretty forgettable. The music excels in the most emotional points in the story. There's one song that grows on you throughout the show though.
Characters
This is probably the strongest part of this anime. Kobato is usually the type of character I tend to be apathetic to. However, the episodic plots consistently develop her character and draws you into her natural amiable personality. She sincerely cares for other people (unconsciously does things without knowing the reason why she does it), and she does take action in the best way she can. The characters she assists along the way have simple, but fairly realistic (for anime at least) problems. The supporting main cast are fairly strong and fleshed out. Overall, you can't help but feel like cheering Kobato from the sidelines, since that's all we can do xD....
Animation
Fairly consistent. There are times when the animation really makes it beautiful.
Overall
It's an anime that seems like the typical, but it brings out a fairly different, but wonderful flavor. It's contains a good share of comedy, drama, and character development (primarily in Kobato). There is also some romance as well.

The story's simple... Kobato's mission is to heal the hearts of people who are in pain... when she heals them she acquires Konpeito... if she gathers the required konpeito she can make her wish come true... so i have to say the plot is not that complex compared to CLAMP's previous work(tsubasa).. quite a simple one... also... expect some cameo appearances from the other works of CLAMP...
My verdict:
Well i have to say that the introductory part of kobato was quite slow to give character development that it covered some episodes... though there are times that i thought of quit watching it... but the concluding part kept me from watching... the ending was quite unpredictable but it was a memorable and cliche...

This anime was completely, utterly, wonderfully fantastic. I have never in all my anime watching seen anything like it. I won't give you a detailed synopsis, but basically Kobato is about a girl who comes into the human world with her stuffed animal companion Ioryogi to fill a bottle with shattered hearts in order to get her wish granted. That doesn't sound like much, but this anime is packed with all sorts of genres. Love, Sadness, Lonliness... Amazing!
Storyline:
The story line sounds boring. "Oh, another anime about a girl wanting to help people. Whoopdeedoodledoo." No. This anime will make you laugh, cry, and just plain grin.
Music:
The music was beautiful. It is simple, but the lyrics are touching. My personal favorite song is the one Kobato sings all throughout the anime. It makes you smile and hum along.
Characters:
The characters in this anime are so achingly real that you feel like you know them as if they're your closest friend. You want to laugh with them, cry with them... Kobato herself was an amazing character. She is selfless, innocent, and she goes through all the motions a real young woman should.
Art:
GORGEOUS. I need not say more.
Overall:
Watch it, you won't regret it.

I think that this anime can be watched by anyone, with them enjoying it. It's just another beautiful work of art from Clamp. I hope to see this on Crunchyroll one day, it made me smile and almost cry numerous times, it was just... I can't sum it all up at once, just one word, beautiful!

A nice new work from CLAMP, which works with just about all audiences. However, the main audience for this series is really adults. The themes are more mature in this series than in many recent works from CLAMP over the years, and may be a way to keep providing good stories to their fans from the past who have now grown up.
The basic premise of this series is Kobato, a girl from another world, comes to Earth on a mission - to have her wish fulfilled. Tutored and tormented by her master, teacher and ultimate arbitrar of her fate - Ioryogi, a talking blue dog doll with a mean disposition - Kobato attempts to earn what is necessary to allow her wish to be fulfilled. A magic bottle - and - shards from healing wounded / broken / scarred hearts.
From the start, she has fateful encounters which will guide her to her ultimate destiny.
Some minor notes on the names.
Kobato is often called Dobato by Ioryagi. They are names of birds.
Kobato is a dove - specifically Little Dove.
Dobato is a pigeon - specifically Stupid Pigeon.
And if Ioryagi is REALLY pissed at Kobato, he calls her Dabada
For those that have read the COMPILED manga, the anime is a re-imaging of the manga, so people, places, what happens, the order they happen in, etc. may not be the same. The first two manga chapters are sort of followed in the first episode, plus new stuff. You will recognize probably half the characters in the background there. Also the Fortune Teller shows up in this episode reimaged as a kindly grandmother taking her daughter's baby for a stroll. Will she be more than that in the future episodes? Maybe so - but who knows.
For those who have read the SERIALIZED manga, the anime goes back in time and starts far before Kobato receives her job in the Kindergarten.
