Kodomo no Omocha (こどものおもちゃ, Kodomo no Omocha?, lit. Children's Toy) is a manga series by Miho Obana, helped periodically by her sister, Kaori Obana. The series is commonly known under the nameKodocha. The manga won the 1998 Kodansha Manga Award for shōjo. The series was adapted as an OVA and later as an anime television series.
The manga was published in North America in English by Tokyopopas Kodocha: Sana's Stage in the year 2002, although as of 2008 it is out of print. The anime was licensed for North American distribution by FUNimationand Was Translted in engilsh in 2005,and aired on the FUNimation Channel until July 14, 2008, when it was removed.
Sana Kurata, a child actress, faces many problems in her classroom, including a major one - her bullying classmate, Akito Hayama. Sana's outgoing and friendly nature leads her to work towards correcting all of the problems around her. Her 'meddling' irritates Hayama but at the same time captivates him, just as Hayama's gloomy nature irritates Sana and compels her to change him. As these two opposites attract each other, they face many hardships which bring them closer to a mutual understanding.
A story of growing up, letting go, falling in love, and falling out. It follows the relationships of Sana, Hayama, and friends.
