This game is pretty amazing. Single player is fun but it can get pretty frustrating with npcs serving as your teamates though at some times they do in fact come in handy. Best part of the game is the "Director". Instead of having fixed spawn points, the Directer places enemies and items in varying positions and quantities based upon each player's current situation, status, skill and location. So you've basically have a different experience even if you play the same level over multiple times. This game is an ideal multiplayer game since it focusing on teamwork and communication between teammates. Just trying to solo your way thru something is plain suicide. Another game mode "Versus" is where the most of the fun of Left 4 Dead is show. It is strictly multiplayer, the maps and game-play are similar to campaign but in versus there are real players playing as the the "infected", the special zombies which try to kill you. Needless to say the objective of the infected is to kill the survivors. As on the survivors side, the infected need to plan and use teamwork to incapacitate the survivors before they can reach the safe room. Also equipped with a survival mode this game can easily be called one of the best games ever made.
