Twelve-year old Aoyagi Ritsuka is left with his insane mother as his only family when his brother, Seimei, is killed suddenly. After moving to a new school, he meets Agatsuma Soubi, who claims to have known his brother. Ritsuka eventually discovers that Soubi and Seimei used to be a fighting pair, whereby Soubi was the "Fighter" and Seimei was the "Sacrifice". Now that Seimei is gone, Ritsuka has inherited Soubi, who will become his "Fighter". After learning that Seimei was killed by an organisation known as the "Seven Moons", Ritsuka decides to investigate into his brother's death, with the sometimes useless help of Soubi, along the way.

Okii~ as a yaoi fan, I would have loved it, so I tried it. At first I thought it was lame, but in the end, I finished it in one night. It was soooo interesting and very good. :] I like how everyone has cat ears when they are virgins haha, and I like the fighting. I didn't quite like the bit of yuri that was contained, but the rest was interesting and I loved it. -Lexie
As a yaoi fan, when I heard about loveless,I was imidiently interested.
Making it past the opening and after Ritsukas little monolauge,I was already hooked.
The first episode was nothng less then amazing and the first fight against breathless litterally took my breath away.
The animation during the fight was absolutely beautiful, the spells they exchanged we're good as well, not you average, ryme here, ryme there spells.
The rlationships between the fighters and sacrafices was shown well too.
So OVERALL the anime is excellent.
However,
If you watch the anime and THEN read the manga, you'll see that a few characters we're left out along with most of the plot.
While in the anime,Ritsukas brother is shown to be kind,POSSIBLY cruel, the manga shows EXACTLY what kind of character he is and how manipulative/sadistic he can be,even towards his own fighter.
Along with that,Soubis relationship to ritsuka and vise versa is gone into a lot more, showing soubi that he can trust ritsuka and showing ritsuka that not all things are as they seem.
The anime was good, the manga is at least 5 times better.
I recommend them both very highly.
Loveless is the most beautiful and wonderful...The Graphics are awesome and gorgeous...The mortal of the storyline is about how to be brave and Live life to its fullest...They made the characters unquie and different. They made them into nekos which made and interesting and plus its yaoi its so wonderful

On his first day at his new school, 12-year old Ritsuka Aoyagi meets a mysterious 20-year old man named Soubi Agatsuma. He claims to be a good friend of Ritsuka's brother, Seimei, who was recently murdered, and the suspicious organization called the 'Seven Moons' may be responsible for the death. As Ritsuka quickly finds out, Seimei and Soubi acted as a pair involved in spell battles. Now Soubi is Ritsuka's fighter, and Ritsuka is his 'sacrifice'. Together, they challenge the organization to find out the truth behind Seimei's death and the reason for Ritsuka's amnesia.
For some reason, Ritsuka was not originally Soubi's sacrifice so they did not bond too well. During spell battles, Ritsuka would let Soubi kiss him so as a mark of trust.
Soon, they encouter several pairs from the organization the seven moons and Ritsuka tries asking Soubi the impossible question over and over.
