Macross Frontier

I'll keep it simple. I don't want to mislead anyone here so I'll begin by saying that I didn't get this hardcore into anime until a couple of years ago. That being said I tend to be more a fan of newer animations than old, so there is a chance of a biased opinion here.

That being said, I thought the animation for this show was one of the greatest for the late 2000s. This gives Gundam 00 a real good run for its money. The drama within the story is very heartwarming as the series sticks to its franchise roots of an exceptional love triangle. Unlike other series, both girls were easy to like, even though both were different. Just when you find yourself rooting for one, the other either pulls an amazing song out of her arsenal or does something incredibly cute/hot, etc. The fight scenes are pretty fast paced, but unlike other shows it wasn't that difficult to keep up.

In general, this is a most watch. You'll probably have to be a softy to truly enjoy the ending, but if you keep up with this franchise you know what to expect and you'll be excited to find out how it is delivered to you.

I am going to make a quick review for those who want an overview, and for those who want more detail you should keep reading . I will give my opinion from my point of view, you should judge it this is right for you.

Quick Review

To start, if you are a mecha fan, you will enjoy it. To be honest, the battles aren’t thrilling and are too simple; it lacks many essential aspects for those of us who like more complex battles. Furthermore, combine with mecha, they apply a lot of military strategy that adds interest to the show.

It is also a space opera where there is a lot of singing and romance. For the most part I hated it when they mixed the singing with the battles, but it wasn’t so bad. And they combined romance with humor, which I can tell you: you will laugh a lot (at least I did).

You will enjoy how the story develops, but it’s hard to say it was outstanding. For me it lacked action and the battles weren’t thrilling. You can’t predict it since it reveals important details as the story goes on. But it has a good overall and I do recommend this anime for those who enjoy a lot mecha and romance.

Other details:

The story line is good, but it could have been better. For most part of the show it lacks suspense, excitement, and above all: action. Perhaps it’s because the battles didn’t thrill me and at the same time they focused too much in the “love story”. It’s important to make clear the way they developed the action and romance is equivalent, but I prefer more action. You might enjoy or not the story depending on what you like.

The music is really good, as I said before: it’s a space opera. Even though the music didn’t fit with what was happening, the songs were so good that it covered up that mistake. And in other scenarios the songs and “action” were perfectly match.

The characters are not sick in any way and are what you can call “normal”. The main character (Alto) develops as the story goes: he grows up, becomes more mature and gains an important position in the military. The same goes for the rest of the characters, they develop in interesting ways as the show goes on.

I like both of them because they have amazing voices but who do you think Alto likes. I think he might like Sheryl better
