Overview
New Breed is a Hmong-American Rock/Pop band from Northern California. Formed in 2002, the former line-up consisted of Yeng Vang on lead vocals and guitar, Xai Vang on keyboards and background vocal, Derek Vang on bass and background vocal, Jimmy Thao on keyboards, and Ger Thao on drums. The band enjoyed most of their early success, performing cover songs at local events, such as Hmong New Year celebrations and community fairs and cultural events. Because of the variety of music that the band played, the name New Breed came in place. Though it was only cover songs, it attracted both younger and older people.
