TMS Entertainment, Ltd. (株式会社トムス エンタテインメント, Kabushiki-gaisha Tomusu Entateinmento?), formerly known as Tokyo Movie Shinsha (東京ムービー新社, Tōkyō Mūbī Shinsha?) (TYO: 3585, a subsidiary of Sega Sammy since 2005), is a Japanese animation studio, founded on October 1946. One of the oldest and most prominent anime studios in Japan, it has also produced numerous animated series airing in other countries such as France, the United States, and Italy. The company currently uses "TMS Entertainment, Ltd." as its corporate name, however the animation studio itself is referred to as Tokyo Movie (東京ムービー, Tōkyō Mūbī?). The company also has a fully-owned subsidiary, Telecom Animation Film, which often co-animates shows with TMS.
Between 5th January 1991 and 2nd November 1991, a 26-episode anime based on the St. Clare's stories was broadcast in Japan under the title "Ochame na Futago Clare Gakuin Monogatari.[2]" This anime has been translated into German as Hanni und Nanni, into French as 'Les Jumelles de St-Clare, into Spanish as Las Gemelas de St. Claire and into Italian as Una scuola per cambiare.
St. Clare's is a series of six books written by British children's author Enid Blyton about a boarding school of that name. The series follows the heroines Patricia ("Pat") and Isabel O'Sullivan from their first year at St. Clare's on. Other characters include Alison O'Sullivan (the twins' cousin), Hilary Wentworth, Carlotta Brown (an ex-circus girl), Janet Robins,Doris Elward and Bobby Ellis.
