Pierrot was founded in 1994 by Kirito and Jun in Nagano, Japan. The original line-up was vocalist Hidelow, guitarists Kirito and Jun, Kirito's brother and bassist Kohta, and drummer Luka.
Late that year, drummer Takeo became the replacement of drummer Luka who left and the following year in February, vocalist Hidelow left, making Aiji his replacement.
They made their major label debut in September, 1998, with the single, 'Kuria Sukai' (クリア・スカイ, Clear Sky), and the band lasted 'til 12 April 2006 when the band announced its disbandment. Their final album was 'Dictators' Circus: a Deformed Bud', a best-hits album that includes singles from the 10-year span of their career.
Their final single is 'Hello', which many fans consider apt for a band that started their major career with an album titled 'Finale'.
Having existed from 1994 to 2005, Pierrot is considered one of oldest J-rock visual kei bands, which earns them a place in history of Japanese rock and visual kei genres.
