This series has many merits. For one, it has a solid, continuous plot line that carries it over throughout the season. You see the characters portrayed realistically, and start to sympathize with some of their causes. Most interestingly, all of the elements portrayed in this series are completely realistic. From space development to the effects of zero-gravity, the creators did their homework to create a very solid series. Definitely worth checking out, if fantasy is not your style, but you want something futuristic.
