Polysics

Polysics was formed in 1997 as a Japanese New Wave / Synth-pop / J-rock band and found their big break at a concert in Tokyo the following year.

Kayo frequently describes their music style as "technicolour pogo punk" as they create high energy music, fusing conventional guitar music, with synthesised and computer generated sound to create a stylised mixture of punk and pop. Polysics freely admits to being heavily inspired by the American bands 'Devo' and 'The Tubes', and Japanese band 'Yellow Magic Orchestra'. Their song lyrics often contain Japanese, broken English, or just plain gibberish ("Space Language").

The band has been noted for their extremely energetic live performances and their wild gimmicky outfits.
