I fell in love with the story line. The England voices are crazy and why do they call Ahiru Duck? Though it is the translation, they really shouldn't be calling her just duck..... I think the Japanese voices sound a little better for this one. The artwork is ok and I'm not a big fan of the music but I was never really into classical anyway. They use a ton of music from different ballets and I'm not really a fan of them. I do feel sorry for the main character. I feel the same as her...

If you like classical music and story book fantasies than this series is for you. This series was the first anime series I ever watched and it completely hooked me on the entire anime kingdom. While the show carries dark undertones, it is for the most part light-hearted comedy and romance. Going back and watching it remains one of my top favorites, for many reasons.

First the art style, which is a real biggie for me, is extremely well done. There are few to none of the sloppy episodes you see in other animes, character design is especially beautiful. Classical music is one of the main components of this anime, if you don't know classical well its not a big deal but if you do you will appreciate the anime even more. The production of this anime obviously was held in talented hands, because they combine episodes and plot perfectly into the music.

I really enjoy how it stays on plot, and doesn't allow its story line to slip through cracks. Each main character in the story (four in total) are treated lovingly, each have depth that makes you fall in love with them. Even side characters pull you in and have depth to them. It is also an anime that you can watch with or without dub in my opinion. There are few animes I can stand in dub, frankly because English casts generally do not have voices that fit (OHSHC for example or Bleach as another). However, the character dubs fit extraordinarily well so if you aren't into reading subs this is a good one to watch.

Overall I would say if you are looking for a story that isn't terribly heavy but still has depth and good art work, you will love this anime!

Princess Tutu to this day remains one of my favorite animes. I remember watching this back when it was on the Anime Network. I thought it was a pretty good anime series.

Now watching it again as an adult, I still say it is good. Especially if you watch it in Japanese. The Japanese sub is really good.

It's about a girl named Duck (known as Ahiru in Japanese), who falls in love with a boy named Mytho. Unknown to most, Mytho is actually a prince who lost his heart while killing a monster raven, who is left without any emotions and who is trying to find missing pieces to his heart. So Duck decides to help Mytho by helping him find the missing pieces to his heart. There are other characters too, such as the pervy Neko sensei, who wants young women, most especially Ahiru, to marry him, Rue Chan, a young girl who is the daughter and princess of a raven, the monster raven himself, Pike and Lilie, Ahiru's best friends who is there for her and provide comic relief, and of course Fakir, who is a knight and Drosselmeir too.

It's a good anime series that is really worth watchin g if your into fairy tale romance as well as ballet. The music is incredible and the characters were awesome. I don't think there was one character on that show that I hated. This is really something cause usually there is one character to hate, but for this there is one. I really recommend watching this because once you watch the series, trust me you will fall in love with it. Watch the anime today. You wont regret it.

It was a really a good show. Its basically a story within the story. Its mainly about a girl who used to be a duck named Ahiru which means duck in English. At first she's in love with a prince named Mute who has no heart. The writer Drosleynmer (whatever his name is) only wants misfortune in his stories. So he gave her a necklace so she can be Princess Tutu who has a role on the story to find all of the pieces of the prince. But with the necklace she can also turn back into a duck if she quacks or takes off the necklace and the only way to turn back into a girl is by getting wet or putting the necklace back on. Without the necklace she is only a duck and can't transform into Princess Tutu. She can't confuse her love to the Prince Mute or she will disappear in a flash of light. But, the only thing she could do is give the price his heart's piece. Drossemelr(again i don't know how to spell his name so whatever) wants Princess Tutu to confuse so she can disappear. She soon develops stronger feelings for the knight in the story named Fakir who's role is to protect the prince but he can't because in the story he soon becomes useless and dies. The only thing he can do is write stories that might come true. He too develops feelings 4 Ahiru and can only write stories aboout her and Princess Tutu.(Ahiru and Princess Tutu r the same person.)

Princess Tutu Is A Beautiful Anime!~

This is only a basic review also my first..

Princess Tutu is a beautifully animated shojo. The manga and anime plots are different in quite a few ways so it's worth watching/reading the entire series!~

The characters all have interesting backgrounds and key roles in what seems *at first* to be a simple plot line. The anime soon becomes very tense and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire way through!~ I'd watch one episode and move straight on to the next; it was that good!!~

I would recommend this anime to anyone. I like this and Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni!~ It's nice and easy to get into, very addictive. The plot also takes a rather sinister turn which makes the anime even better!~

Once upon a time, a man died. The man, Drosselmeyer, was writing a story when he died. It was a story about a prince and a raven. They hated to see that their story was not finished. So the raven escaped to the real world and the prince sealed him away by shattering his own heart.

Ahiru (which means duck in Japanese) is, well, none other than a duck. Drosselmeyer turns Ahiru into a human and gives her the ability to transform into Princess Tutu. Princess Tutu's job is to find the Prince's heart shards and return them to him. However, there is a catch, she cannot tell the Prince that she loves him, or she will disappear.

.......................................

Princess Tutu is truly one of the best anime I have ever watched. I love how it becomes a story within a story. The characters are very lovable. It has a lot of symbolism. Fairytales and ballets some how seem to tie into each episode. Enemies are defeated and people are helped all by using the power of dance. The music is awsome because it is classical music from ballets and fits very well with the series.
