Summary:Due to a deep trauma at school Sakurada Jun has refused to return. He spends his time in his room, surfing the web and ordering anything that takes his fancy, only to return the items just before payment is due. One day, he finds a web site that tells him to put his order in a drawer of his desk. He does so thinking it to be a joke, only to find that the letter disappears and a strange package arrives soon afterwards. It contains an exquisite doll, that, when wound, comes to life. She treats him as a servant of little worth, but over time helps him come to grips with his fears and in the life-or-death fights that soon follow her arrival.

Rozen Maiden is a series about a middle school drop-out named Jun Sakurada. He enjoys ordering very expensive 'cursed items' online and returning them just before the grace period ends, just for fun. Though, one day, he finds an order form for a very exquisite and rare doll that instructs him to place it in his desk drawer so the spirit Hollie may come and take it. Thinking it's a joke, Jun stashes it in his desk. Then, the next day, a mysterious package arrives; and when he checks his desk drawer, the order form is gone.
What arrives, is a doll. Just a doll? Really? No. She is no ordinary doll. When the key in her back is wound, she comes to life.
This is an amazing series. I started out watching Shugo Chara! (another of Peach-Pit's works), and I thought it was great. When I went to check out Rozen Maiden, I had absolutely no idea at all that it would be like this. I thought it was going to be all fluffy and cute, about girls in dresses who cook and do funny things (I didn't even know it was about dolls when I decided I was going to watch it.) When I started watching the first episode, I was blown away. It was so unlike Shugo Chara! I was so intrigued, I just had to watch more. It is a pretty dark anime, though. But if you're a first timer (Like I was), it would be a great introduction to this sort of thing!~
The music was just... amazing. I was quite impressed with it. If you listen to some of the songs from the Rozen Maiden OST on YouTube, you'll see what I mean. The openings are great, too - Ali Project did a fantastic job on them.
Rozen Maidens' characters are wonderful. Each one is much different from the other. We have the very proper and elegant one who loves tea, the childish one who craves attention and sweets, the antagonist one... Each doll has a specific thing about them that really sets them apart from the others. I also really like their dresses and designs. They suit each character very well.
I have some advice for you, now. Do not, do not, do not watch the English dub. It is really bad. Really bad. That's just my opinion, but I really can't stand Rozen Maiden's dub. It really provokes me for some reason. It's not necessarily the voice actors, but the pronunciation of things... Ah, well, I'm just telling you, the original Japanese version is far better. Plus, you get to hear Suiseiseki say 'desu' after every sentence, which has become very famous over the internet.
I would rate this series PG-13 for scary moments. There is no blood, however some scenes are too scary for children. (I feel kinda weird saying that, since I'm a kid! XD But it is true~)
I hope my review was somewhat helpful to you, and that you might consider watching this awesome anime! (I also highly recommend the manga; it's very different from the anime, but really awesome, too!~)

Another awesome anime based on the manga written by Peach-Pit!, Rozen Maiden is full of suspense, action and supernatural. I totally recommend this manga, especially if you love plots which are in-depth and interesting.
Sakurada Jun, a boy who have isolated himself from society, likes to buy 'magical' things but return them just before he has to pay. What happens when he sees a doll, winds her up, and gets involved in this 'Alice Game'? A lot of action appears, and he discovers that he has to help in a battle against six other dolls created by a man called Rozen! As the medium of Shinku (and two other dolls in the future), he finds himself discovering the history, personalities and goals of these dolls, and tries to convince them that the Alice Game is all a fluke.
The dolls are so cute, and they have awesome clothing! Even the 'bad' Rozen Maiden, Suigintou, is so lovable! The music is, again, quite sad which is why I personally wouldn't prefer it. If you do like gloomy music, however, the music is recommended for you. The attacks are so awesome, with heaps of effects and the like.
This is a definite recommendable anime. It may be short, but its definitely sweet. If you enjoy it, then I suggest you to read the manga as well, since it is packed with more emoticons and even characters.

it's an entertaining and amusing anime. it's by the authors of shugo chara and i know millions of shugo chara fans are on crunchyroll.com so you should watch. even if you aren't a fan of peach-pit open your eyes to a new author. the character that bothers me the most is the bratty boy but he's not that bad.

Rozen Maiden, another wonderful series created by peach-pit. The story centers around a young withdrawn social boy called Sakurada Jun, that is indebted to a living doll called Shinku. She was created by a mysterious, but talented doll maker. Each of the 7 dolls fight each other, in order to become Alice, in order to meet Father (Their creator). Each Rozen Maiden carries a Rose of Mystica, which is their power to fight basically. Thus, Jun becomes in responsibility of become Shinku's protector of her Rose of Mystica, and who she attains energy from. As far as I know, there are 2 series, with an extra 2 episode series which has most likely taken place in between episode 7 and 8. The first series is Rozen Maiden. The second is Rozen Maiden Traumend. The extra 2 episodes series, is Rozen Maiden Ouverture.
