Introduced in episode 3, After seeing Ruby in a pet shop window, Meimi feels that she absolutely must buy her, and sets out to ask her parents permission, after she leaves, a man comes and buys Ruby so that he can hide an actual ruby inside of her. The ruby that the little hedgehog was forced to swallow ends up being Saint Tail's next target, and after retrieving the ruby, Meimi takes Ruby home and makes her, her pet.

Despite being an animal, she seems to understand what Meimi says to her, and often tries to get her mistress to take her along when she leaves to help someone as Saint Tail, which in one case she was actually successful, inspiring Saint Tail to use a 'Hedgehog magic spell'.
