Having seen his band 'Kuroyume' disbanded, vocalist Kiyoharu went on to form 'Sads' in 1999 under Full Face, his own record label. The band name 'Sads' has no special meaning nor is it an acronym.
Sads's debut single, 'TOKYO' was released on 7 July that year.
And that summer Sads had its first four-date live tour in England, U.K., which surprised many fans as it was assumed it'd take place in Japan. Kiyoharu explained it was to test Sads's ability to compete on the world level.
Sads is probably best known for giving frenzied live performances on tours as well as for Kiyoharu's poetic lyrics. 'Boukayku no Sora' (The Sky of Oblivion) is cited as one of best examples of Kiyoharu's song writing.
In 2003 after releasing an album 'Babylon', Sads disbanded.
Trivia fans: Sads' official fan club is called 'Rubber Sole'.
