Overall, it's just like Power Rangers and it was interesting!

Having watched and read "Sailor Moon" anime and manga I came across live action Japanese version which ran from 2003 to 2004 here on crunchyroll. I have to admit I couldn't stop until I watched all 50 episodes.

Storyline/Characters/ Acting
The special effects are bad and there are times you are watching a power ranger fight, but the similarities end there, because the show has a real good storyline and characters you actually care about, plots such as
Sailor Mercury becoming evil! Minako (Sailor Venus) who fights despite having a life threatening illness. The actors are all perfectly cast Miyuu Sawai who plays Usagi/Sailor Moon is not as whiny as her anime counterpart but she is just as sweet and bubbly, Chisaki Hama (Sailor Mercury) is the same brainy girl we all know and love. Keiko Kitagawa's Sailor Mars is not as tough or mean as her anime counterpart and comes off softer, but still stern. The big difference is Sailor Venus and Sailor Mercury (Japanese pop star Ayaka Komatsu) who is nothing like the anime but her background story is touching and is wonderfully acted. Sailor Mercury became evil In one episode of the anime series, but it was a major arc on PGSM. Sailor Jupiter(Myuu Azama)is still the same tomboyish girl we all love, rounding out the cast is Jyoji Shibue who plays Tuxedo Mask, who is very good in the role. I highly recommend "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon". I personally feel if this was dubbed in English it would as big a hit here as it was in Japan. Bad effects and all.

I liked the opening song!

Where do I start when it comes to raving about how wonderful Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon is? I'll start with the cast. Kitagawa Keiko is the best Sailormars ever! She played the role as though she truly became Hino Rei. And Sawai Miyuu? She is the only actress who could ever play Usagi so well. Izumi Rika (aka Chisaki Hama) is the cutest Sailormercury in existence, and Azama Myuu is superb as Kino Makoto. And Komatsu Ayaka is ever the professional, eating whipped cream (which she absolutely hates, oddly enough) to convincingly play Aino Minako, the famed pop idol and secretive heroine, Sailor V. And they could not have picked a hunkier guy than Shibue Jyoji to portray Chiba Mamoru. And Kubodera Akira is terrifying as the angry and vengeful Kunzite...
Oh, and Kawabe Chieko is so cute, so Naru was a perfect match to her!!!!
The plot is full of surprise twists and turns, taking paths that the original animated interpretation never dared to. It made me laugh, and it made me cry my eyes out. I loved it!
If the anime wasn't close enough to the manga for you, you will like this as much as the manga or maybe even more so. Takeuchi Naoko really took her classic masterpiece to the next level with this series. It is a must-watch for every BSSM fan!
It's like every Sailor Moon fan's dream come true: Sailor Moon in real life!
