Salyu first gained national exposure in 2001 when she portrayed a fictional J-pop singer named Lily Chou Chou in the Japanese film "All About Lily Chou-Chou". She has since released three albums (her first as Lily Chou Chou, the other two as Salyu) and twelve singles. In 2005 the video for her single "Dialogue" won her "Best New Artist Video" at the Space Shower TV Awards.

Salyu's astounding ethereal voice is often likened to Bjork's.
