This is a great series! The characters are compelling , the plot keeps you riveted, lots of dramatic tension, with the obligatory romance and unrequited love. All of this, then add pirates, lots of sword clanging, great martial arts scenes, and you have a really good drama based on a historical character.
Song Il Gook (Yeong Jam/Moon) did such a great job in this series that I was intrigued to see him in other projects, leading me to Jumong and Kingdom of the Winds. The Jang Bogo character is portrayed by the same actor that played Wang Guhn, and the actress playing Lady Jang also portrayed the Iron Empress. It is an outstanding cast, the costumes are great, and the story develops in a totally unexpected direction. The plot begins with conflict and competition between merchant groups and ends with political intrigue on a grand scale, all while credibly interweaving the main characters. I really enjoyed this series and highly recommend it.
This historical drama was good. It is based on the life, trials and triumphs of Jang Bogo. I enjoyed it but when it got to the end I was a little disappointed. If you get a chance to see it, you will know what I mean. Overall it was pretty good.
